YeOldPitGate
Injuries are becoming more and more of a problem when trying to present even a bit of credibility for the sport when I went late 80's early 90's everything was based around the old british league and national league. Now days with riders competing in up to four different international leagues plus doubling down and more individual/team international competitions plus all the grand prix's the opportunities for injuries are way higher so we are less than a month into the season and some teams are decimated already turned up with guest,. r/r and irr. There really is no answer to this in the UK but it doesn't help from a point of view when selling the sport when teams turn up with half the stated riders missing or trying to build a bond with the local fans.

Doubling Up has increased the "Guestfests" massively.... Get injured on a Monday and you could miss Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday... Meaning. Four Guests needed or RR.... Less riders per team could be an improvement as it would create "subs on the bench".... Most, if not all, of those without a team spot will already have jobs elsewhere so it won't be like they are investing in kit with no income... Just use a rider who hasn't got a fixture that day anywhere in Europe... Build a pool of "Loanees" who are not affiliated to any UK team who can come in to cover short-term... The near 200 Guests used last season is well on track to be smashed this... I wonder if Dan will be hit financially by his Polish team too...? If Dan is going to be out for any more than a month, I wonder if Dickson has thought about bringing in Sedgmen as a short term replacement? I think has away scores might be a concern though. I would say Morris, Howarth & Kemp x 2 as r/r is a better option than Sedgmen. They could always give Sedgmen some guest bookings if it's on a track he excels at though? Jeppesen another option of a Champ guest if every Prem team is racing on a particular day. That's the advantage of not signing a replacement, being able to pick & choose depending on opponents / if it's a home or away fixture. Hamish McRaker
Dan does unfortunately seem to be building up an injuries history over the seasons. He isnt afraid to go where others hesitate to go, possibly a substantial reason he's developed faster than his brother. Just hope it doesnt become too regular an occurrence

Looks like he's doing one every week if you check his channel out... it's exhausting just watching it, cant help but think he could do without the wasted trips to Poland though. DT comes across really well, something that just hasn't been transmitted by any other medium before, who only seems to be interested in if he's going to make any changes or what the track is like, the guy actually has a personality! Who knew 🤷♂️

All that travelling and behind the scenes preparation for 4 maybe 5 minutes racing!

Flights, Hotels, Bike prep whilst away... Getting enough decent sleep to keep alert enough to ride a Speedway bike must also be a challenge.... And then when you get there you may not ride!!! Used to be worse when it was 16 hour drives through the night with bikes from the UK, at least now they fly.

Apart from NKI... I presume he takes the ferry to Poland?.. Sadly, no ferries now run direct to Denmark, but there is a route via Germany and Holland...

THE DEAN MACHINE
1 hour ago, IainB said: DTTV - The Cost of Speedway I’ve watched all of these and his is one of the only speedway ones I can watch, it was interesting to watch the latest one to compare how bike things/prices have changed since I retired which was 15 years ago, somethings never change and some of the BS that went on back then still goes on today 😂 but in the grand scheme of things apart from clutches and their maintenance nothing has really changed since the 80s but it does cost a hell of a lot more today

Though surprised he didn’t get his collar boned plated in UK. There is a very good consultant surgeon based in Leicester (private) who would have done the work inside a week.
