Terrible looking side got bottom of the league written all over it

Godfrey not up to the job. Can’t put a decent side together for love nor money. No ambition in the least.

So who would you all pick as your final rider? Several available that rode last season that would still fit with the points left available.

Bastian Borke

Alfie Bowtell

Declan Kennedy

Paul Starke

Jason Garrity

Simon Lambert

Of that lot to me its a no brainer Declan Kennedy hes the one who has the potential to progress beyond his current average. Garrity is "untouchable" because of his "history" off track.

Can’t see a long line of people wanting to have his job! Putting his money on the line year in year out. Yes the teams might not always be the best but at least he’s there giving it a good go. Let’s be honest speedway still exists in Scunthorpe because of him

Needs to meet up with Matt Ford to show him how it’s done.

Perhaps the Godfreys' ambition is to run the Scunthorpe speedway to a sensible budget, and provide entertainment (and home wins) for many seasons to come?

Even that home record last year got broken on many occasions

But what does "winning" bring?

Definitely not rich financial rewards, in fact, you could close down due to the cost of being successful, (as has been shown in the sport)..

Winning at home wlll be Scunthorpe's target, with putting on some entertaining racing, on a very good track, being the back up to it...

With Stox helping to cover any shortfall Speedway may need...

No idea what crowds Scunthorpe get but a title winning team won't grow crowd numbers hugely, whilst a wooden spoon team won't lose crowd numbers hugely...

The wooden spoon team would be seriously cheaper to run though...

Most fans thrive on success, and unfortunately some fans will drift away to pastures new.

Most teams are now at die hard levels who will turn up regularly regardless of league position, as, for many, a "night out at the speedway" is their main reason for being there..

I would be very surprised if promoters budget for any crowd increases at all when planning in their forecasted income..

Especially given the age demographics of the vast majority of their fanbase..

You're spot on there, think most clubs have their diehard fans at least Scunthorpe always serves up great speedway meetings, and are always run very efficiently

To add to this the club runs to a budget and pays on time every time . I do understand though to most posters on here that a club that provides great racing in a cost effective manner owing no riders money is in anyway a positive

Fully understand the budget situation etc but the team will be cannon fodder when they ride away from home which you could argue is unfair on the other promotions. Home fans won't turn out to see Scunthorpe away from home which equals poor gates and additional costs in paying their high scoring riders.

Love if I was proved wrong  but with the current team I really can't see anything but heavy defeats away from home.

Too many seem to want to join in a race to the bottom...

Which is quite baffling given the actual "rewards" available...

Some see this, and quite rightly, cut their cloth accordingly and sensibly, and ensure Speedway can continue each season at their venue...

Teams need to stop overpaying riders money they can’t afford for starters.
