Is anything happening at Arena Essex or has that been flattened for housing also ?

I think the club house has been demolished but the outline of a track is still there, the land is owned by Google I think... or was

For a company with a net worth of $3tn and a company motto of "Do the right thing" for them to not build a community sports facility that would probably satisfy 99% of the complaints seems a bit penny pinching doesn't it 🤷‍♂️

Seriously though, that's how pie in the sky this mystery 6th track is, unless it's a returning club with a ready made fanbase, in the current climate it's doomed to fail imo.

I agree, I worry the premier league is going to collapse before we even get to the playoffs

It's got to get to January the 7th first!

I just looked on the four confirmed premiership clubs websites. Leicester are advertising season tickets for 12 home league meetings. I guess for 4 teams to visit 3 times each. On the other hand Belle Vue, Sheffield, and Kings Lynn don't seem as confident. They are still not advertising 2026 season tickets at all.

Yup  check out google earth IainB .......  amazed that the GoKart track remains in place tbh. Maybe Lewis Hamilton practised there as well as Rye House 🙂

Oh come on, give your head a wobble!

There’s a very good reason why people won’t name the new team, which is why the BSPL and the team themselves haven’t announced it yet, there’s still lots to sort out and it isn’t finalised but they are serious and have already spoken to riders.

It’s not a done deal yet, but very close and dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s

It’s only right that the promotors announce it themselves to gain maximum publicity.

LOL stop being a wally. You wont name them because you haven’t got a ‘kin clue so stop pretending ffs. What do you think is going to happen to you if you name this mythical club? Do you seriously think they’re going to track you down, and take you to court for naming a club you’ve heard whispers about on the internet? Nothing more embarrassing than people doing the “I know something but it’s not fair to name them because it’s not my place.

You wont name them because you know Jack sh!t!!

Send me a PM with the name of the club, and I’LL name them on this forum for everyone else to see. You wont though will you, “Marky Marky”?

The Leicester info is for 2025. It’s just not been removed/updated for 2026 yet.

Gotta admit all this cryptic nonsense does my head in as well. If you’ve got something to say, spit it out. Otherwise, don’t bother saying anything at all!

safe in the knowledge that there's no possibility of a PLor CL track opening within 100 miles of Old Bobs manor ... the out of season entertainment on this forum has reached new heights this close season.

Ye olde pit gate ,

A per pro my earlier tongue in cheek guess, Google earth as of March 2025 shows the shale oval and the tarmac outer stock car track still visible. The first bend building has been demolished as have all the bus shelters on the back straight.

… the steelwork of the home straight shed remains minus its roof.

Never had a fence back when it first opened back in the day ….just some sticks to mark the track perimeter .

Do I honestly think it’s a contender …. NO….the landowners want to build 600 houses on it at 500k  a pop …. Not rent out a speedway track at what £2k a week for 2O weeks a year.

Nothing I can argue with there Bob as you say 600 houses or 2k per week, local council will be on board as its nother 600 lots of council tax probably in bands D to F. Didn't someone say at the Stars winter meet up that Buster mentioned Prem promoters probably having to put a bung in each to keep the top league going maybe they are going to offer Oxford 50-60k to go one more season.

Like most on here I can't think of a defunct track that is remotely likely to be in a position to come back , I'm not in the loop these days other than what I read on here but is there any prospects with Kent seem to remember when Len ran it crowds were decent but possibly it fell apart when owner wanted big increase in the rent ?

I can't really see any other championship side running two teams, unless say Terry Russell ran Swindon out of Oxford for a year before relaunching closer to Swindon he could afford to take a 50-100k loss on the chin maybe less if the other promoters subsidised part of the losses for a year.

So reading the latest Rye house statement we can rule them out of the 2026 runners and races, Eastbourne out too, if there is a 6th team realistically at this point it has to be a current championship team running a premier team too

If that is the case my guess is Scunthorpe.

Maybe Rob Godfrey feels some responsibility as Chairman, having led the organisation into such a parlous state, to act as a sticking plaster for a year.

Josh Pickering as number one in both leagues?
