I heard an advert on Greatest Hits Radio that covers Northants,Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire last week for Northampton Foxes and there has been a couple of mentions on the news as well. In the Star today it states that flyers were handed out at the last Stock Car meeting, which I suppose is a good start. In my opinion, they really should be flooding SM sites in and around Northampton with information about our sport with exciting action images (of any club or event) and saying hey this is on your doorstep soon! However maybe the locals won't be aware of the situation & turn up anyway, plus most clubs usually get big crowds for their opening nights. Yet to see a photo of anything resembling a safe speedway track emerging . Good hot dog stall . Without those beams, a riding test of the track would have been possible as Lakeside ran for many seasons with white sticks marking the outer boudary of the track. Picked up a copy of Speedway Star from Sainsburys this week . Occasionally grab a copy when I see something of note , and the reopening of the Brafield Foxes speedway gained my interest. Interested to see that he track operated as a training facilty . With so little time before the opening night, I beams still to be cut off and no air fence yet delivered, you can see a delay occurring. They support the top rope for the stock cars and are an essential part of the safety fence. They have the same thing at Kings Lynn so why would they need to be removed at Northampton ? Tuesday should just be a check to make sure it has been done. I would also be amazed if someone hasn't already ridden a bike around there to test that there are no hidden horrors in the surface.
