At least when they have to postpone it they won't be disappointing any locals.

is anyone aware of if there have been any local advertising for the team???

I heard an advert on Greatest Hits Radio that covers Northants,Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire last week for Northampton Foxes and there has been a couple of mentions on the news as well.

I would imagine that they may up the output more once they know they are open and any gremlins are sorted out so on opening night will just be happy to Speedway fans in and then will target others which may work as Football season will be finished and Rugby Union not far behind

In the Star today it states that flyers were handed out at the last Stock Car meeting, which I suppose is a good start. In my opinion, they really should be flooding SM sites in and around Northampton with information about our sport with exciting action images (of any club or event) and saying hey this is on your doorstep soon!

The report of the KL meeting in the local newspaper carried an image of a Panthers rider in action.

I see the Premiership KOC finalists have been decided before Northampton have hosted either of their home matches, not an ideal situation to bring in a decent crowd!

However maybe the locals won't be aware of the situation & turn up anyway, plus most clubs usually get big crowds for their opening nights.

Welcome to the weird world of British speedway, people of Northamptonshire. Your new team has already been pre-knocked out of a competition before you start seeing them in action.

Its a new trend. Chelsea FC now has a policy of pre-sacking its managers before they start

How do they 'nominate' or 'select' the riders for track testing on Tuesday? Do they pull names out of a hat or may pin the tail on the donkey. More importantly what happens if the said 4 riders say the track is crap?

Always said that th metal I beams that protrude around the outer perimeter were a major issue. Yet to see a photo of anything resembling a safe speedway track emerging . Good hot dog stall .  Without those beams, a riding test of the track would have been  possible as Lakeside ran for many seasons with white sticks marking the outer boudary of the track.

Picked up a copy of Speedway Star from Sainsburys this week . Occasionally grab a copy when I see something of note , and the reopening of the Brafield Foxes speedway gained my interest. Interested to see that he track operated as a training facilty .

With so little time before the opening night, I beams still to be cut off and no air fence yet delivered, you can see a delay occurring.

Quite possibly as a lot of work is involved. However, and fingers crossed it does, it looks like you could build a lot of speed down the straights.

The 'beams' that you refer to are not going to be cut off. They support the top rope for the stock cars and are an essential part of the safety fence. They have the same thing at Kings Lynn so why would they need to be removed at Northampton ?

Surely to goodness Northampton have already had a conversation with SCB and it's track inspector about what is required to get a licence and what they need to have in place before his visit.

Tuesday should just be a check to make sure it has been done.

I would also be amazed if someone hasn't already ridden a bike around there to test that there are no hidden horrors in the surface.

I cannot believe that this has all been left to chance on Tuesday

Simple. Just get four white-line hugging gating tarts. Any suggestions?

I would be very surprised if anybody has ridden the track as yet ,si.ply because the steel posts aren't covered , I would imagine they will need a similar arrangement as mildenhall ,with a foam hat over them before anyone is allowed to ride the track

Weren't the "foam hats" one of the reasons Mildenhall failed the SCB inspection and went off down the Nora route?

More likely to be as at Kings Lynn and Scunthorpe, where the speedway fence rests against the stock car fence, and is higher than the steel posts and wire, and then with a polyfoam fence attached to that on the bends
