A tough sell, and one it doesn't look like any promoters around the country have done anything about at their own track... A coach from each would have got a thousand or so there.. Just to explain how these events work: tracks apply to stage what are called shared events. They will get a staging fee which will be a percentage of the gate receipts plus they will keep proceeds from car park and food and drink outlets if they have control over them. It is therefore in BV’s interests to promote the living daylights out of this event. But will they? Do they normally do any promotion? Radio? TV? Press? Blitzing social media? So it doesnt really matter whos ball it is every club in the country needs to do everything to promote the meeting and get people there. A live event on terrestrial TV in a fairly empty stadium will not get potential supporters flocking to the turnstiles. British Speedway needs a hard reset and everyone currently involved from top to bottom needs to get involved. If saturdays meeting is a big success with high viewing figures its a firm foundation to build on. If its a meeting full of delays because theres a queue at the entrance and played out in front of empty stands, then we may as well throw in the towel. Edited 14 hours ago by Triple.H. The flagship of the sport for domestic UK Speedway.. It it looks as if hardly anyone can be arsed to attend this then the competition itself looks irrelevant.. And if the supposed pinnacle prize of the sport in the UK looks irrelevant, then heaven help the league racing... If so, that didn't work out too well did it...? And if they did that for that reason, it hardly speaks volumes of their own belief in their own product does it..? Personally, if the tickets sales are poor, then I would close down a third of the Grandstand and put out some huge Aces, and Sponsors flags across the empty seats... Close up the Grandstand attendees together... Or just close the South side and let everyone sit down and put the adverts across there, like football does on Champions league nights... The answer is if those on here still believe the sport has a future in the UK try and get to Belle Vue and if they could simply give tickets away free to attend like Arena Essex did a few years back then who knows how it will look. Pack out the stadium, create the atmosphere and make sure the riders are told to chase every point available and find a sponsor to put up a winners pot that is worth while then you have the making of a show case. At this late stage those outside the sport have not got a clue so it is the best opportunity to go for sh.t or bust. It does not matter at this stage who or what organisation rallies around to make this work, those watching for the first time will not have a clue when it was decided what the winner gets so try and push the boat out and make it happen. All on here know that if speedway is to succeed we owe it to get behind this opportunity . I get league meetings for obvious reasons but I hope people locals turn out and get a full stadium for the final. I hate watching an event on TV and the stadium is half empty, surely people will turn out for this one!? Just been on the website and the main stand again has loads of seats left, this there a real reason why people don’t attend? This isn’t to get at Belle Vue or their fans as I actually love watching BV but I always feel like Ipswich would have a better crowd for the BS final than BV. The opportunity exists for every team to have fans there in reasonable numbers which just may get some recognition from anyone watching in their locality... A British Championship in any sport should have followers from all those competing, and the more teams' fans there the more UK Speedway looks like a "National sport", which, for many non followers it currently won't register as such.. Though it should obviously be a sell out anyway given the fact it is on a Saturday with the British Title on the line, we might as well get fans from the whole of UK speedway to back this event and not just Aces supporters. Fans should be there, in numbers, from any track that has a competitor, and even if they haven't... Like used to happen.... The reality of course is that the BF is no longer what it was once, and the Aces fans will make up the majority of a small crowd.. If Dan Bewley gets confirmed it will attract more Aces fans to the event, (plus others), however, possibly, the Aces only have a RS rider in the meeting.... This is the third meeting in less than three weeks at the NSS, which I would say is a gamble in today's economic climate... To be honest, I do feel that the BF should move given the NSS holds two GP's which, whilst being great, and much more expensive, do deliver VFM and massively take the shine of the BF, especially when so many RS's and Championship riders are included... There is minimal advertising for the event, if any, locally, but that aligns with the usual Aces lack of marketing.. I am baffled why every track doesn't try and flog, at least 100 tickets each (since April), with these tickets being discounted heavily to offset the high travel costs... Maybe clubs should even organise coaches to get their fans there?.. The BF should be a "Festival of Speedway" pushing the sport forward, instead it becomes just another Speedway meeting...
