The Non Good Friday

Is it me or has this been the most stuttering start to a season ever?

The PCMT & Klindt's testimonial, then nothing except for a few Redcar/Scunny encounters, Ben Fund & Belle Vue, then nothing...

Good Friday! 2 meetings on! One at Poole and one at Edinburgh... Scunny not even bothering (maybe this was the "wow" news Godfrey has been referring to)

What a state of affairs!

Scunny had stock cars last night and again on Saturday, so maybe logistically it made sense to not have speedway in between if they have to make any infrastructure changes.

You are well aware and you've been very active. So why question? Why doubt? Why mire in the demise of speedway. Looks like you absolutely love it, cant fix it and never lend a hand but always online to want for more despite giving less. Aye but you bought a season ticket.....yet put down and question everything else. Get yourself involved Ian, change the dynamics of meetings, be more than a worthless typist on the Internet. You won't, you aren't.

What a strange takeaway from my post... I'm a paying customer along with thousands of others with £25 burning a hole in my wallet on what used to be one of the busiest days in the speedway calendar and am left with a choice of Poole or Edinburgh... or spend my money on something else.

Enjoy your Good Friday meeting, hope it stays dry for you 👍🏻

Back in the day a decent Good Friday could financially secure the season at Ipswich

Often attracted 4,000 plus

You'd think that somebody would put something on even if it was NDL 🤷‍♂️

Yep and back in the day meetings were held morning afternoon and evening with some real derby matches. As a Hackney supporter in those days I remember travelling to Ipswich in the morning and the return at Hackney in the evening. At Rayleigh you had a morning meeting followed by a return over the weekend with either Canterbury, Eastbourne or Boston. Today you have so few teams you cannot even have a regular weekly meeting and as a sport which should be thriving in the summer months you end up with a calendar devoid of meetings when support should be flocking to tracks and today the lack of ability to capitalise on those months when the sport should be attracting punters is consigned to history. Sadly it is a pale shadow of what used to be such a great bank holiday extravaganza.

I once did a Good Friday of King's Lynn, Ippo, Arena & Peterborough and every single one was rained off lol... and we were in the car park for each one when it was called off... happy days, it was all part of the fun though (maybe not at the time) 😂

To have a 450 mile void of speedway on a bank holiday though is inexplicable 🤷‍♂️

My parents used to take me to Rayleigh on Bank Holiday Mondays for the morning speedway meeting. We would then stay for the Bangers and Mini Rods in the afternoon before rushing back to the station to get to Wimbledon for the evening Speedway. A great days entertainment when you love oval racing on two and four wheels.

Can beat that back in the 90's drove from Workington to Oxford found out it was rained off when we got there, no mobile phones back in the day , spent a dry afternoon in Oxford went to Swindon massive storm 1 hour before the meeting and called off returned back home 600 miles and no speedway 😧

Yes 600 miles it's 42 mile each way  from my house to the motorway at Penrith 😧 but was a bit easier back in the day as nowhere near as much traffic on the roads
