RR for a No1 should mean that (should the manager so wish), the other two HL's take his rides..

Not second strings or reserves,, (unless the manager wants to)..

As all other teams were riding no guests of the required level were available, which would  usually have been the first call for Sheffield, and all other teams...

Jeopardy in sport is fundamentally what it needs to be successful and Sheffields team tonight brought that jeopardy, however, one way to cut guests, by a significant amount, would be to have a fit for purpose RR facility..

Don't agree with that. Open to all sorts of manipulation.

Rider replacement is swings and roundabouts. I have seen a team use it for a missing 5 point second string and the replacement rides getting a paid maximum. Also seen teams use it for a heatleader and get less.

Rider replacement has been one of the more sensible rules and facilities in the sport for the last god knows how many years, last thing this sport needs is tinkering about with rules that don't need changing.

If you want world class No1's to be signed then you can't use second strings or reserves to replace them..

And Guests just make the meeting contrived nonsense...

A fit for purpose RR system would ensure teams win or lose as that team..

Not some random select, with the odd ringer brought in..

No one would think Sheffield were manipulating a situation where one of the best riders in the world was replaced by Chris Holder and Pickering, should the manager so wish, with all riders having seven rides max..

Riders missing for pathetic reasons and going unpunished is a much bigger issue that needs fixing. Teams being allowed to sign riders knowing full well they will only ride in about 50-60 percent of fixtures (Klindt) is another and there are dozens of other rules and regs that need sorting.

The guest facility has been around the whole near 30 years I have followed speedway, it sometimes works for teams other times not its the way it goes. Same as R/R.

I kind of see your point, I am one of those that think in football that if a player has gone off genuinely injured they should be allowed to bring a sub on to replace him when they have already used all 5 of the allocated subs but that wont ever happen.
