Now that Northampton have proved themselves with very good attendances, not so much with the results on the track though, hopefully, the promoters will invest in a much better team for next season.

Last nights attendance was the biggest since the opening night I reckon. It was an embarrassing result but overall this season has, so far, been a success for interest and crowds with an impressive local hardcore of support being established.

To a point, I think that people are making allowances for the fact that it’s the first season with a late start but next season I don’t think that they may be so forgiving.

I am still enjoying having a team to support and the whole race night experience after a good few years away from watching live Speedway, plus, the fact that it has all been a big one in the eye for the cynics who were saying and I think, weirdly, hoping that two men and their dog would be the only ones attending!

I was one who thought it was a massive risk for anyone taking it on but very happy i've been proved wrong, it seems if they could get the track sorted out and get some money in either from a decent team sponsor or maybe get Tolley on board they could have something good to build on in 2027.

The biggest issue team wise is they need to get seven committed triers they had four at the start of this season who are only interested when all the ducks line up track and weather wise for them and you just can't carry that number of riders who don't fancy it half the time, granted they had no choice other than to take what was left though in 2026 if they wanted to run.

Speedway fans are weird. So we're at a point now where clubs can't sign rider's because others can't afford it??

Absolutely bonkers mentality.

It's up to everyone else to be better, not lowering standards to suit the least well off.

Even if the team averages were 25 or 55, in the main, if a club has the most expenditure available, they'll have the best team.

It's the way in every single motorsport.

It's very very simple, if you want a competitive league, bug all the other promoters to raise their standards

"If I can't get a lower team average then I wont run"...

"That's fine, you will only be brand damaging again anyway"....

Same in most team sports, Poole decided to move down as it is more profitable, same crowds less cost. Most team sports can't purposefully make that decision. The less well off usually get relegated but not through choice.

You always came across as a pro-active promoter Mick if you were put in charge of the top flight in 2027 what would be the changes you would try and push through ? whilst equally being realistic of budgets and team constraints.

It all very much depends on there being a TV deal for the Premiership. If there is and it will put a significant level of money into each competing team, then I’d limit teams to having one rider over an 8 point average. I’d like to see a minimum of four British riders in every team. I’d like to see two rising stars per team, but this may not be possible. Rising stars should also be categorised and used in the Championship.

If there is no TV deal then we’re probably at ground zero, with one league and six riders per team on a almost semi professional level, sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards.

As things stand I would think only a couple of clubs in British Speedway are turning a small profit, clubs are relying on people coming through the gate, sponsors and benefactors who can stand to lose piles of money.

Who wants a hot shower in this weather? Oh wait..  does 30c reach that far north :D

Can't wait to see BV ride against themselves every week in a few years time lol. Maybe then they will care about other teams who were in the same league 👀

Glasgow could. Oooh lets send them up for a bit of competition!

The irony 😄

The fact that only currently affects 1 club out of 15 is purely coincidental and by no means looks to drag more number ones out of a particular team, so we don’t have to nurture talent.

FFS, it’s little wonder we find ourselves where we are. What a nightmare.
