Allow both clubs to choose a Monday or a Thursday for their home leg? Any reason why after finishing top not to allow Belle Vue to race away on Thursday 24th & home on Monday 28th? Could even run 2nd vs 3rd on Thursday 17th as Lynn are fighting for 4th place? BSN can only broadcast one match at a time and also people may decide to stay at home to watch the other meeting Edited yesterday at 09:24 AM by flagrag
mikebv Posted yesterday at 09:32 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:32 AM (edited) A sad indictment of the sport (in the UK), but maybe, in house streaming will deliver better income than the money any TV company is prepared to pay to cover the play offs?.. Are BSN doing a "play off special offer"? Covering all 12 meetings in both leagues?.. I would suggest £120 for all 12 could get a decent response given how many "generic" Speedway fans there are in the UK.. The Championship playoffs are included in the BSN season pass but it's going to be £59.99 for all 6 Premiership playoff meetings (£49.99 if you have a season pass) I have the pass. Although I personally don't think I'll bother with buying the top flight playoffs as I think it's pretty foregone conclusion that Belle Vue will win the Premiership playoffs (For what it's worth Poole winning the championship playoffs is also a foregone conclusion). Chmpionship play-offs are included in the annual subscription.

There will be thousands more Speedway fans without a subscription I would imagine than currently have one, so a pretty big market to target... So few meetings carry any relevance or consequence in the UK, so when some do exist, in such a short space of time, then they should be used to maximise interest and income... marko Posted yesterday at 02:58 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:58 PM Play offs for a league of just six is pathetic. At very worst it should have been first vs second over two legs or maybe even second vs third with the winner playing the team that came top. No team who finishes in the bottom half of a table whether that’s 4 in 6 or 11th in a league of 20 should have a crack at being league champions. Total mockery of the sport.

In semi I'd have first leg at home, if they were to go to Ipswich and keep it close (or even win) some fans wouldn't come to second leg. For final though should have second leg at home. Then set the choice in the regs - don't just have it made up to suit as you go along I'm sure Ipswich would prefer a Thursday home leg - do they deserve that choice? SR 011.1.1 says "The highest placed team will have first choice of the home or away leg (in both semi-finals and final)."

Thanks for the clarification/confirmation Apologies for my questioning the choice option assuming from the comment that it was a desire rather set in the regs 👍
