If it’s 37, then that leaves 5.15 for the last rider. Also, let’s not forget that Coleman in his interview with Radio Suffolk the other day stated that the 2027 number is 40! He did, but I think he must have counted a rising star as a 3 pointer because I’ve since had it confirmed to me that it’s 37 plus a rising star. 1

The rumoured Ipswich team top 5 is Upskill Teams Doyle,Bewley,King,Nilsson and Kemp,I’m surprised at Kemp because when I spoke with Richard Coleman he wasn’t that keen on Kemp due to him giving up a lot of the time. Kemp isn't great but he's a more reliable option then others on the table. I personally look at it this way.... ERIK RISS Postive Good rider if he's fit (Big If) and he's been part of the Landshut setup with Nilsson so it's a good combination for Team spirit. Negative The illness keeps coming back so if it's him then you're playing poker because if the illness returns after others have improved GSA's then it could be a case of scrambling around for a rider on a 3 something to replace him. 4.50 YOUNGSTER Positive If they click, Then they really click to a point where you end up with a gem who makes a mockery of an assessed average. Negative They're BOOM or BUST merchants as we saw this year with Hellstrom-Bangs and if another one falls into the BUST category then it's a scramble for a replacement because with the RS not likely to score many points (If any) then it's too risky to keep the faith by running a Team with two riders not scoring points. DREW KEMP Positive Can ride Ipswich and Leicester very well and has a good few years worth of PREM experience. Negative Can be frustrating and his head does go at times. I’d argue drew kemp has had one fantastic meeting at foxhall and rest were poor. Be interesting to see his foxhall average with and without that meeting included

I’ve always liked Riss & was happy when he joined us a few years too late mind. However with his illness you have to steer clear. Kemp the talent is certainly there, Louis didn’t persist with him due to attitude & he hasn’t really done anything to address that. Maybe & it’s a big maybe being in a team alongside Doyle possibly Bewley & having Coleman as a boss might change that. Overall I think we’d be better off with a youngster from over seas or Rushen.

Kemp needs managing. If that can be done then Ipswich will have a great rider.

Steve Irving
Erik Riss. For that team to fit, Kim Nilsson must be on an assessed 4.50 average. He’s a solid 6.50 rider in this league so you’ve got a two point average jumper right from the off. As well as getting two thirds of a point shaved off for Cairns exiting the rising star scheme. I’ve heard his name too. If the rumours are to be believed it’s Doyle Riss King Nilsson Bewley Cairns Foord a decent side on paper with a few gambles in there. King would do well to retain his current high average so you’re reliant on Nilsson being the steal he looks like on a low average. Riss for me is a huge gamble. A real good rider on his day but, his health issues that haven’t went away since the last time he rode for the Witches concern me. I personally would have gone for Rushen or a newcomer or returner to the league on an assessed average. Can only assume the management have had some kind of assurances regarding his health. a lot of pressure on Cairns to make a big jump this season as with the nature of the rising star scheme now meaning he could end up carrying a lot of weight in the reserve birth. The RS standard is very low and a lot of these guys are getting thrown to the wolves and only ever really going to be likely of beating one another and getting 3 rides a meeting (even more reason why maintaining a fit side will be key) With Foord you know you’re getting a trier at least.
