Agree with you about Freddie but think he deserves another year because of his injuries this time round

He's had almost as many wild cards as Harris 😁

For a start there's no local rider to have that spot. And if I remember correctly the Croatian federation have previously said that they could take out a licence with them to enter the qualifiers so there was clearly a willingness to assist them there. With a one-off meeting though they could presumably nominate either as a 'Polish' rider.

If they were to take out the Croatian licence it would mean them giving up their Polish race licences, and this wouldn't be a one off for just that GP either, it would have to be for the season. And neither of them would do that for one simple reason...money.

By racing under the Croatian licence, it would mean that Wroclaw and Torun would not be able to track them as Poles, as Ekstraliga clubs have to pick two senior Polish riders. The pair are far more valuable as Poles, as they can demand more lucrative contracts given the relatively small group of riders at their level than they can as international riders, which they would be if they changed to a Croatian licence. I cannot see either of them wanting to make less money in the world's top league, can you?

This is why I said earlier that maybe money is more important to both than the world championship. Darija Pavlic gave them both the option a while back and neither has taken it up. That speak volumes.

You never know with Mr Coleman now running things he might go on talent alone and actually try to get the best riders in

Thomsen finished 11th on 62p from 9 rounds. Kvech finished 13th on 52p from 7 rounds that makes about 7,2p/round to Thomsen and about 7.4 p/round for Kvech.

Utter nonsense that Emil and Artem are motivated by money.

They are both desperate to go back into the GP Series and challenge for the World Title.

The reason they don't want to take a Croatian citizenship is because they have no affinity to Croatia and are Polish citizens.

Laguta and Emil both live in Poland and pay Polish taxes, so why would they become Croatian citizens? They are Polish.

Bewley and Holder (if fit) will be nailed on for a Wild Card spot.

With the SEC potentially adding an extra Wild Card slot with Madsen Woryna on 34 pts MJJ and Janowski 33pts.

Should Janowski win the SEC that may throw a spanner in the Teng Tool Box but if it is 4 Wild Cards - Bewley, Holder, Thomsen, Lindgren (if he wishes to continue in the SGP's ) if Janowski wins through the SEC they may go for Lindgren over Thomsen.

Utter nonsense.

They are Russian and took out Polish citizenship and race on a Polish license TO MAKE MONEY!

As I have already said, if they wanted back in the GPs then they could have taken up the Croatian offer when it was first proposed.

The IOF still have a ban on Russian athletes & as the FIM is affiliated to the IOF it respects it's regulations & continues to exclude Russian riders in any of it's events

Both riders may well be holding Polish passports but as yet they have not been invited to compete in the Polish national championship or be part of the Polish national team setup.

If they are now Polish citizens then it would be required for the PZM to nominate them for any FIM events as Polish riders as they have done in the past for Rune Holta who is Norwegian by birth.

Mentioning the offer of a Croatian license was just to highlight that they were obviously sympathetic to Sayfutdinov/Laguta so it would make sense if they also offered one of them this opportunity.

I'm just assuming that the Croatian federation can nominate whoever they like as a wildcard for that round as they have no riders of their own. They wouldn't need to change nationality for a one-off GP, they can ride in it as Polish. Clearly most countries aren't going to give them that chance at the expense of one of their own riders but that isn't a problem here.

For me it Bewley, Holder (if fit) and Lingren are givens. Which leaves one to do.

I suspect it will be a rider who's national is not represented by those riders already in and host an SGP.

Apart from one important fact that the FIM have the final say  on accepting a Wildcard nomination and there is no way Laguta or Safytudinov would be given the green light.

Fair enough. Didn't realise it had to go through the FIM as well, clearly a no-go as you say.

I'll change my prediction to Zagar for that one then :)

They are not Polish.... but whatever.

I do feel sorry for Russian sportspeople not able to compete in their respective sports, but I feel even more sorry for innocent Ukrainian's having homes destroyed and innocent civilians being killed.   So until the Russian state leave Ukraine, Russian sports men and women should not be allowed on the international stage.

I do think another nation should also be banned from the international sporting stage, but that's an argument for another forum as not relevant for speedway to my knowledge.. good luck ROI in the football though on Sunday.

Artem and Emil became Polish citizens before the war in Ukraine.

Them being Polish has no link to the war.

I would love to see Emil and Artem take the PZM to court.

They are Polish citizens, but are not being treated the same as Bartosz, Dudek and Kubera by PZM.
