2,500 or so I would guess....

A couple of hundred, (maybe more?) Aces fans boosting the attendance..

Yes I reckon 2500 maybe a wee bit more (max 3k) there was a decent amount of BV fans which gave it a decent slightly sparky atmosphere which reflected the jeopardy of the event.

Crowd definitely up more than usual.

Away fans there in numbers???

Who would have thought that this would create atmosphere?....:D

They need to find a way to get a strong away contingent at every meeting...

That would naturally raise the events status as "something to win"..

Sheffield's track used to be superb. Seeing Wilson and Compton in full flight around there was something else. What on earth has happened to it?

Air fences has narrowed it, and a slicker surface means it is easy to ride fast, midtrack, which leaves little room either side for a rider to pass, even if those following have enough speed to get alongside the rider "flying" in front of them..

And as the dirt moves out, the line about 2m from the fence becomes the line to take when in the lead, as Kurtz showed by winning a race by over a straight!!

It can become very much, follow the leader, with all using the same outside run...

A performance of champions that was, Zach Cook IMO was the matchwinner with a solid nine points, although everyone chipped in and it was a great night. Everyone played their part, now lets hopefully make it number fifteen without any accusations of wrongdoing.😉

It reminded me a bit of the old Cradley V Wolves / Coventry cup final / league meetings i attended in the 80's - as the teams have reduced in numbers the travelling distance has also not helped. Often you get very few away fans - Matches at Sheffield certainly of late are best when its either BV or Leicester in town. The BV fans did get louder as the night went in their favour although acoustics would mean they were probably not that audible on the home straight etc.

At Ipswich its Kings Lynn or used to be Peterborough.

in the old days at Arena when Hackney were about it was always a good atmosphere.

I can remember I think it was a Cradley v Wolves match from years ago when Wolves were visiting and other than Ermolenko and Correy had five reserves somehow Pete Adams had one of the big two out in virtually every heat and I think they won the match against a decent Cradley team possibly Jan'O / Simon Cross days.

Dear old Pete awesome manager in his prime but but he was so much more made for radio than tv interviews.

What a night last night was.  Awesome performance by the Aces, I was worried without PK, but the lads rose to the occasion, Kurtz and Doyle were at their brilliant best, but special mention for Tate who was once again superb, and Zach Cook who had the hardest job of the night and delivered in every race he was in, especially with his excellent heat 14 win.

The atmosphere was electric, with nerves excitement and chanting from the Aces faithful.  BV v Sheff matches always bring out the best in the fans from both sides IMO.

Special praise for the track staff, after the terrible weather the track was in excellent condition, which was great to see.

On to Friday now, Aces in the box seat, but cant be complacent, we need to continue how we rode last night and not think its won.

It would have been even easier without Mcdiarmid, still think r/r was the best option but in the end did not matter. Blodorn wasn't great but Tate and Zach were on fire.

It's a regular thing the stream keeps crashing more so last night at the beginning but two or three times usually on their other meetings.  that's my experience anyway.

Never, ever any problems for me.  EE full fibre, with WiFi to my iPad.

The tracks haven't changed much.

One day the fans and more importantly the riders will understand and accept that it's the super-tuned engines which make the bikes behave differently, lurching with relatively small changes of grip.

You'll never know if it would have been easier. R/R was only available to Blödorn and the reserves. If the Aces had then had other problems on the night, they could have been stretched unnecessarily. As it is, Zischke was able to take two extra rides (in place of Cairns and McDiarmid).

Tate rode well and he would have had another ride if they had gone with r/r, there could have been 3 riders in the races McDiarmid was in, it would have made no difference.

Lemon took the more measured of the two options, knowing that if Zischke continued his good form then he could have six rides anyway. Otherwise, Lemon was looking at Zischke being forced to take 7 rides, and Cairns 4, with Blödorn having to take the R/R in 12 (with your benefit of hindsight, apart from an excellent gate & go in Heat 5, Blödorn's only other point was ahead of Killeen - and he would have faced Etheridge in 12).

It's all about scenarios and options - I thought before the meeting that Lemon had made the correct choice to use a guest, and it was proven to be fairly successful.
