Have to disagree with you on that one under no circumstances should any object be thrown the culprit being ejected may be the least of his worries, a lifetime ban should hopefully follow . As for the wheelies the lad had just went from last to first to clinch the title personally i wouldn't begrudge him that.

It may come as a surprise to you, but nobody cares where you are or whom you are with. Keep that stuff for non sensical Facebook.

Firstly can i say a huge congratulations to Leicester on their win, better team over the 2 legs and deserved their victory. Far too many last places over the 2 legs for us and ultimately it cost us. With all the early exclusions tonight I never felt like we ever built up any momentum, barely gated in a heat advantage position all night. Might of got a bit of luck in ht 6 with the Douglas exclusion, I felt that could of went either way. Heat 13 masterclass from Cook, not that we would expect any less but still simply sublime. Onto the final blow in heat 14 and what a ride from young Ellis Perks. To clinch the league in that manner, as much as it hurts us Tigers fans you can't help but doff your cap to the young man for a ride like that, absolutely fair play. Also would like to say what a show of sportsmanship from Lawlor to get the bike off the track when the Tigers were on a 5-1, really wouldn't of blamed him at all if he had stayed down to force a re run, that was a touch of class. I dunno what happened at the weekend between him and the fans down at Leicester but again I have to hold my hands up and say fair play to him for that. Looking back and noted that we gained +12 points in heat 13 & 15 over the two legs but still it wasn't enough. So if that doesn't tell you that the best 'team' won then I don't know what will. Once again congratulations Leicester and enjoy your night!

Well done to Leicester, always good to see the team who finished top ending up as champions. Also well done to Glasgow fans for their dignity in defeat and not biting to any of the garbage posted on the thread by people whose teams were nowhere near the final, seems that jealousy will never go away.

Well done Leicester , fitting the team that tops the league wins the title . It was a cracking meeting tonight . Our three heat leaders were excellent , just needed more than Kyle Bickley backing them up . For Leicester Perks had the best meeting I've ever seen him have and he had solid back up . Oh well that's it over for another year , and another year we've not quite managed to win anything , but it's been a really enjoyable journey this season , roll on 2020

You. my friend, prove why I still go to speedway after nearly 50 years. A true fan who acknowledges good racing, real sportsmanship and real speedway when he sees it. Tonight saw two quality sides go head-to-head for the trophy we all want. Leicester won, of course, but the real winner was all of us. Even "watching" on updates was nail biting. So as a Leicester fan (till the Bees return) can I say, "Well done to Glasgow".

Honestly What a fantastic opportunity for Sheffield and their fans. Good luck as you head off to pastures anew. Enjoy the experience and here is wishing you all the success for the future. I will miss my visits to Owlerton but as it's only a couple of hours down the road I may be tempted down just to see the big boys ride. All the best THJ

Why would Kemp even cobsider Sheffield given how he was treated this season???

Good luck to the Tigers, just wish Worky were in a similar position. The fact that the new conference centre will be available to the speedway is a big plus for the fans.

I had to look this one up! Tuesday 30 July 1974. Weymouth v Crewe. Dave Morton won, from Kelvin Mullarky. Russell Foot third and Ian Cartwright fourth. A 3-3, in a time of 73.3. Weymouth won 41-37.

I was speaking to a Polish colleague about that and how they all seem to speak such good English while we struggle with other Languages. He put it down to the fact that they are exposed to English constantly from an early age in the form of films and popular music so it was easier for them to learn whereas we are not exposed to to foreign languages in mainstream media or entertainment.

No title at Glasgow this year, so well done Lions on the title. Plenty digs at the "money men" not winning the title but these individuals have just served up the most entertaining season of speedway I can remember. Makes them winners too I reckon.

1969 the year I saw the Lions live for the first time. 2019 the year I saw the Lions win the league for the first time . 50 years! Thank you to everybody for making it happen.

It does, but an away team with guests on a Friday or Saturday evening at the NSS will still generate a bigger crowd than a 'proper' away team on a Monday or a Thursday.. There's no real kudos in winning any Speedway League title in the UK, so it doesn't really matter who represents who.. Therefore, ride on the night you can make your most money, even if it's a bit contrived.. The fans who are still going regularly have shown that contrived septets don't prevent their attendance so it doesn't really matter to them if the teams are a bit cobbled together.. So ride on nights when most fans can get there... Its obvious the sport cannot run itself 'properly' as a genuine team sport due to a myriad of variable issues, so it might as well not even try running itself 'properly' and aim to get those who still attend now, but maybe not every match, to attend more often...

WOULD be nice if it was studio based with guests including riders, promoters, etc.

Sorry Mike but can’t agree with you at all -Dave Rowe in my opinion is a top commentator, who knows Speedway inside out and never misses anything happening on track and because he uses Kandysoft software is always on top of permutations, qualification etc. I have to say that Nigel Pearson and Kelvin Tatum along with Dave Goddard all do a great job- we only have to think back to Jack Burnicle to realise that !!!

You should have just referred to this item on the much linked to Defunct Speedway Site written by a certain John Hyam( you might know him ?) which mentions the size of the track http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/New Cross.htm Also a good reference often linked tohttp://www.speedwaymuseumonline.co.uk/n tracks.html

Very surprised that a veteran and ex journalist should get confused about the size of his first and favourite track !!!

Several reasons why teams request to drop.. With financial being the obvious one. With the underlying reasons of there being absolutely no kudos by winning any Speedway title nor any attainment levels to aspire too from the lowest league to the top.. No disrespect but a Grand Final in Speedway (UK), is akin to two bald men fighting over a comb.. Therefore what difference does it make to the clubs what league they race in? Hardly anyone cares who wins. There is almost zero National coverage.. And there is no financial reward worth speaking of, in fact, as we see, successful clubs can actually lose money and go bust by winning!! Therefore you might as well decide amongst yourselves where you want to compete, and at the end of the day you can watch pretty much the same set of riders anyway so no loss there.. As you say, it sends out all the wrong messages, but that's where the sport is in the UK, and I suppose the overall thoughts are better to have clubs still in existence than not.. An ever decreasing circle though isn't it?
