Pinny 2,536 Posted June 2, 2021 Are people surprised? Fans being charged to watch a professional sport when even at the highest level in the UK, its an amateur sport these days. Will only get worse as well. Time to knock team speedway on the head and change to grasstrack style events.

Excellent value for money.

Yearbyred 1,103 Posted June 2, 2021 So meeting has to be re-run because 10 races not completed, meeting abandoned at about 9:50pm. Grobauer has been excluded so 3 riders only in heat 10, had it been run best Brummies could have got (barring something unusual) was a 3-3 which would have left the Bears with an 8 point lead. Very harsh on the Bears to have to do it all again ( any idea when it could be fitted in?) through no fault of their own. I seem to remember Glasgow being awarded a 4 point away win at Redcar when the meeting was abandoned after Heat 9 in 2017.

Argos 262 Posted June 2, 2021 Let’s get one thing straight there’s been a dog meeting at Perry Barr on a Wednesday for a long time, it goes back to the Tony Mole time as owner, and his track men could not get on the track until 2pm, So please don’t give us the “Surprised Dog Meeting “ crap
tomhaines 68 Posted June 2, 2021 Firstly thoughts with Jordan. Looked an absolute shocker. This was my first and probably last time at Birmingham tonight. Having moved to the city at the end of 2019 I was pretty excited to have a track on my doorstep again having not had a local track since Reading - plus Wolves and Leicester not too far away… but I won’t be back! An utter shambles with 5.5 hours to prepare the track, yet as 7.30 rolled around there was a lot of standing around and not a lot of track work…. Absolute contempt for the paying customers. Not sure what happened there but it’s unacceptable - before anyone accuses me of being a ‘keyboard warrior’ and praising the promotion… I’m a paying customer and I didn’t pay to stand around for over an hour listening to music that is older than me whilst being told we’ll be underway shortly again and again. Speedway in the UK just doesn’t get it. As a mid 30s fan of almost 24 years with disposable income I’m exactly the type of fan Speedway should be trying to attract and maintain. But there is very little thought for the fans and nothing to attract newbies to stay. I was planning on attending at least 2 meetings a week across Brum, Wolves and Leicester. But having endured Wolves opening abandonment, Birmingham tonight and a very slow delayed first Lion Cubs meeting I think I’m finally done… there are better things to waste my time and money on I’m afraid. The sport needs an absolute revolution in this country to drag it kicking and screaming into this century. 21
Yearbyred 1,103 Posted June 2, 2021 Just checked the Brummies website, no free dates until Wednesday 21st July at he and no mention of an alternative raceday? Bears are back there in the League on the 7th July in the league.

I gave up with it after watching Lee Richardson lose his life in 2012 but still try to take an interest, but it's sadly waning I'd like to ask those devoted supporters who attended this evening why should I attend again? Good to see you posting on here again Deano
