  1. Past hour
  2. The problem with long term planning is the continuing closure of tracks. It is getting to the stage where the shrinking number of tracks could lead to team speedway being unsustainable. Whilst we all like watching the GPs, almost everyone on this forum will have initially been drawn to the sport by watching the 7 v 7 team format. Supporting your team is a tribal thing, like football. Can’t speak for others, but this is why I love speedway and have zero interest in any other motor sport.
  3. Poland have already announced their plans for 2027 regarding rider availability and we've done absolutely nothing to mitigate this by starting our league transformation a year before them, it's not even been addressed... we seem to be just blindly sailing on, full steam ahead 🚢🧊
  4. They have a two year plan now... Year 1 - Do exactly the same as we always do... Year 2 - Do exactly the same as Year One..
  5. A 3 month plan and let’s get the season started first🤔👍
  6. I'm not blind to the fact that Cardiff was well past its best, but it was allowed to become what it was... but it was still the biggest Speedway meeting in the world for many many years and brought publicity and awareness to our sport. I'm not going to go through all of the Manchester vs Cardiff arguments again but there's no escaping the fact that we've gone from the 2nd highest attended Speedway meeting of the year to bottom of the SGP attendances.
  7. All 55 years of age, returning on minus five point averages....
  8. Well, about £480k (don't forget the Vatman has 16.67% of the income for the government).
  9. Maybe 10 year plan will give them a chance to change something. All the young Brits will maybe GP riders by then. With their forward thinking Premiership League.
  10. Absolutely. At the very least they should have announced the intention to set up a commission to look at the full range of options for 2027.
  11. Today
  12. Was there really any major positive impact on those measures? After the initial novelty wore off, and BSI no longer marketed the GP as vigorously, it became just another speedway meeting for many... Hence crowds eroded away after around ten years or so of reasonable growth.. It certainly did nothing for UK domestic speedway as the current malaise shows... If the NSS gets around 6k a night this year, that will still be a fair percentage of the total punters who regularly attend UK Speedway at the fourteen tracks left...
  13. Quite easily, it's this year to year existence that has got us to where we are. They should be issuing a statement now addressing the current issues and putting the building blocks in place for 2027 and beyond, start by scaling back doubling up and introducing a proper youth system... that's just for starters.
  14. How can there be a reference to 2027 when they still can’t confirm what’s happening in 2026?!
  15. Dan Thompson joined the team on Tapes 2 Flag podcast and spoke about re joining the Lions for the 2026 season, and more
  16. Dan Thompson joined the team at Tapes 2 Flag podcast and discussed his thought's on joining the Monarchs amongst other things
  17. Which one of the 1st 2 are you @lewy 😁
  18. The "Gold Top" is more powerful than the "Semi-Skimmed" version! Sorry, I'll get my coat.
  19. The reality of not seeing Top 16 and the Format are big factors in live attendances.Im definitely not a fan of the format or points allocated on the night.Just my opinion though.
  20. Yes, all that... but think of the intangibles i.e. profile, awareness, press coverage etc.
  21. I remember reading that Cardiff was circa six figures to hire the venue... And was kept by the owners of the series rights as their own promotion and not tendered out to anyone else... Warsaw was the same... Presume as they were considered "cash cows"... The Welsh Tourist Board subsidised the costs to some degree too... 40,000 at around forty quid must have been worth doing... 20,000 at around forty quid much less so, hence no more Cardiff...
  22. Didnt know that ,but u know speedway can make rules to suit .
  23. What were the (monetary) costs of Cardiff vs Manchester?
