Wot, no other 'track anoraks' ? Had it in mind the capacity could be circa 12,000, certainly waaay back in 1979 when Hull won the British League Div 1 4's (one seriously sweet day) there were 8 teams racing 2 semi finals, top 2 from each into the final. 3 full meetings witnessed by large crowd, those were he days....

Hear hear. Always a highlight that brought in the crowds. -

Fair enough but I'm just trying to think outside the box. Boy, does Speedway need it. My suggestion is not perfect by any means but I'm sure there's ways they could work around it. All I'm saying is that the sport needs a new direction, a new impetus and more variety. At the moment it's same old same old and needs something different to get new fans in. Even bringing back the Gold Helmet would be a good start. A decent sponsor, some decent publicity and put it out there that there's bad blood between the two contestants (akin to boxing etc). Remember the Golden Helmet match races between Carter and Penhall, now that really did catch the public's imagination! -

Imagine if they tried that last year! Imagine if Poole agreed to be the 8th team to race in the KOC and they got drawn against Sheffield, then imagine the mighty Poole getting cold feet and pulling out so Sheffield got a buy into the next round, just imagine if that happened… -
Why does Robert lambert’s name pop up on this forum so often when he was interviewed saying he wouldn’t come back to British soil anytime soon. He even said he would never manage the British speedway team when his riding is done as he would be the owner and would make massive changes unlike people in charge now. He is a massive tool.
-
Yet you were someone who demanded a meet up with other Glasgow fans because you were unhappy about what they said on this forum. How times change.
-
You may well be right. Just one of those riders that I’ve never taken to

Interesting take, I can honestly say that Tom Brennan has never reminded me of NP in the slightest. I like Brennan, I think he can get better.
-
Just not a fan, personally think he is on the edge of being dirty - a less talented Pedersen. Sure he would do a decent job for us, but wouldn’t be on my list of candidates.
-
The desire is certainly financially restricted by the fixed racenights that were brought in to suit Poland fixtures.

I would say that the crowd levels were very similar at most meetings. Both sports had some meetings with better than usual crowds but there was never that much difference.

They would find a way to eff it up Perhaps field an ineligible rider and get disqualified -

To quote you - “To maintain the standard at the 2026 level you would need to find 25-30 riders at or close to the standard of Harris,Lawson,King,Nicholls,Wright etc “ You choosing to use 5 of the top 10 averaged riders in the Championship is just trying to sensationalise your argument. -
I assume Stock Car meetings were better attended, so maybe cooking in greater quantities reduced the attention to quality a little.

8 years in the 2nd tier with one single PO final appearance does not scream "top dogs" nor an obvious "drive to rebuild". Curiously, both Leicester and Somerset dropped down to the 2nd tier for 2019, leaving only 5 teams in the 1st tier, and it was only then that Ipswich chose to go back up. -
Never been a particular fan of Tom Brennan. But if had the chance to sign him, I would not say no. I remember him doing a Guest booking at Owlerton and he did well. In saying all that I think he will be at Ipswich next season.

Too nice - they are used to having w@nkers at No1 -
If he'd fessed up perhaps I'd be of a different opinion, but he didn't. He lied through his nose for months and got found out, and he put a lot of people's noses out of joint. All a moot point as he's unlikely to be seen on a competitive speedway bike again.

Watched him as a junior at Eastbourne, had that broken leg which had a lot of complications, he lost his Mum from an early age, I Sponsored him in his early days and went through the Eastbourne times when he didn't get paid, like all riders, by Ian Jordan. You could tell as a junior, he was a talent.

I have no disdain whatsoever for the Championship or any team within it and Ipswich is not perrfect (and was far from it in the past) I agree big changes are needed - let's hope they are made and that they work
