Well I appreciate there being a reason for using r/r at 2, as opposed to the usual "everyone uses it at 2 logic". I still wouldn't want to use Fricke at 8 against a "rising star" though. If Douglas & Howarth had to ride together, I'd then put r/r at 5. Use Howarth in heat 4 (meets a reserve) Use Fricke in heat 7 (against opposing number 1) Use Douglas in 11 Use Masters in 13 (as usual) Swap Douglas & Howarth around (Douglas at 4 means he avoids two-on-the-trot with his r/r outing). Still have a heat leader racing with a reserve (except heat 4) in r/r outings, plus 3 extra strong heats when Fricke & Masters are paired together?

At least the news is out early... A sensible decision given the meeting on Saturday... I remember when you only found out that one of the main riders was missing when you got into the stadium, so good news for the Aces fans in particular who can now decide whether or not to travel... Several on the FB page have already intimated they will now give it a miss, meaning no getting there and then frustration...

Seems an age since the last home match v Ipswich, might have to programme the sat nav in to get me there! 😁 Hopefully some good racing and a home win to come away with the 3 points on offer

Oxford Cheetahs v Edinburgh Monarchs 18/6/25 19.30

I'm sure Jody will be a bit disappointed with a single point but it must be noted that after the reserves race his opponents were Palovaara, Thomson, Castagna and Sedgemen. Understandably Killeen got the easier rides so perhaps it's not surpring that he didn't score after heat 2. -

No, but I am considerably better informed about the issues surrounding the likelihood or not of his appearance. In the 'good old days' we'd probably told he was definitely riding and only discover otherwise at 7.29. Edit: and thanks to the Internet I now can. He's not. In the olden days that news would probably not have reached most fans before arriving at the venue, but now it is in the public domain which rather proves my point. -
Sheffield v King's Lynn 19/6/25
InTheDeepStuff replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Kvech has visited Owlerton 3 times (twice in 2024 and once in 2025) having 16 rides in total scoring 19 points (8 from 5, 9+1 from 7 and 2 from 4), so will need a big upturn in form to keep King’s Lynn in the hunt. R/R for Pickering should be a drop in points for Sheffield, can see possibly 6-7 from his rides which is easily 4 points less than you’d expect him to score. Home win but closer than the earlier match in the season, 51-39 -

Surely it'd make the best sense to choose matches that fans find the most difficult to get to, Glasgow vs Poole, Plymouth vs Edinburgh, Belle Vue vs Ippo etc. obviously there's only so many of these you can do and maybe clubs that do their own streams will want to prioritise these as their big sellers? -
R/R confirmed for Kurtz which is a massive blow for the Aces and the Lions should surely win this now. I'm going for 50-40.

Poole Pirates Vs Berwick Bandits 18th June

A new clutch for Zach last night!! In any case the engines he uses in the wide open spaces at BV are far too 'strong' for the Poole track! -

Its near on impossible to choose which fixtures will be the best. Sometimes the less fancied fixtures are the best. As far as I know BSN are contracted to show two fixtures from each track plus KO cup matches which will make choosing specific matches harder to do. - Today

Poole Pirates Vs Berwick Bandits 18th June
foreverblue replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We probably are not the team to beat at the moment with one or two riders misfiring but I am sure all will come good for the business end of the season. I have criticised Kerr and had my doubts about him before the season started but lately he has been better and has shown better form for Sheffield. Anders has been terrific from the start, we can excuse a slightly off performance just coming back from injury. Zach has not been on top form for the Pirates and I have seen claims it is because his best equipment has been elsewhere but last night was better and we know from the past he will be on top form when it matters. -

As i previously posted Berwick rely heavily on their top 3 performing. Kemp had an off night last night, while Kildermand would have scored more than Leon. Berwick reserves picked up their points due to Poole riders falling so result could have been worse. -

Can't see Kvech getting near what he got Monday, his gating isn't the best and Sheffield are so strong at home. -

I find it easier, because: a] social media is constantly updating me b] the Internet makes it far far easier to know when and where riders are committed abroad. -
Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
MB723 replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What I mean is the management could be banking on some Redcar/Workington supporters still coming up, meanwhile the further away fans might be more inclined to get Bandits TV which could overall make more money instead of the further away fans just getting BSN. Its the only explaination I can come up with. You do miss out on a big crowd and increased atmosphere for the locals which is a shame though, saw it at Glasgow earlier this season against Berwick when BSN were up, expecting a full crowd but it was half empty -
Bank holiday Monday witches vs Lynn was best atmosphere I’ve heard when we finally got the win and everyone actually got up and cheered. To me, sport is at its finest when you have emotion and your team and your fans are as one. You’ll never get it, but the fans at Portman rd singing their heart out, all you need is 50 of them to give something different. I’m going to Gorzow vs Wroclaw after the SGP as I’m in Poland to see family, I can’t wait to hear the singing and the scarfs flying. It makes me feel invested in the meeting.

How can you tell what is going to be an attractive fixture these days, most of the time you can’t even predict the Teams. -
Think KL may surprise everyone here if Kvech fills his boots at reserve again. Picko is an out and out No.1 around Sheffield so the drop off to R/R is quite significant.
