  1. Past hour
  2. How could we forget Squire (aka Split) Waterman . A character he was. A pretty good speedway rider. 🙂 Think the key point you correctly state is AFTER Speedway. Lived out a quiet life in sunny Spain 🙂 Think the Vintage Speedway Magazine did an interview with him in Spain.
  3. Hagon Hausl Nagel and Hodder already signed for the Cheetahs. Glasgow must be gutted. Team stripped by Forum. 🙂 🙂
  4. Today
  5. I believe they mean the Oxford thread now seems to be a Glasgow thread :0
  6. To me at the absolute outside you might try and get an Iwade type set up but anything more might be a stretch. I know a few people have enquired over the years but nothing has ever come of it. No idea who owns it but I don't think its any of the stock car companies that are well known
  7. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes for both teams, sadly on behalf of wolves it’s not the people you would expect but the fight continues but as one door closes another one comes into sight if not opens
  8. He wont score 10.5 at Scunthorpe let alone away tracks. He usually scores well at Poole.
  9. Genuine question, would it be viable to build a permanent stand around the 3rd / 4th bend so that they don’t have to spend tens of thousands for the temp stand, thus improving facilities and the look of the stadium. I know lots of people (including me) have light banter across the teams we support but if it is the home of British speedway it’s in the best interest for Britain to have an even better stadium, it would complete the look too IMO, just continue the stadium around the bend to connect the two stands, or is there reason they can’t?
  10. I guess any new speedway track would cost a fortune but I was thinking more that as an investment its ability to capture some speedway supporters from the local vicinity is perhaps better than some other options but then again I could be way off the mark. Anyway enough on the topic of Stansted as clearly it is bollocks and time to move onto the next guess as to which venue could be appropriate to promote speedway and not go bust half way through a season unless the backers enjoy throwing good money after bad. The sport is on life support but the one hope for Ipswich making a comeback is if a buyer has been found and some of those Ipswich riders from last year who have not signed for other clubs are still available to form the core of a new team perhaps with some up and coming Poles. Happy new year to all and fingers crossed that 2026 has something more to offer than what appears to be the case as at today.
  11. They guy who runs the speedway show at Warwick is into badges too, I think it’s more about type of customers you have like the air force etc
  12. I've always thought if someone could get Cradley up and running again its probably the only area that could also house Wolves at the same track a bit like AC & Inter Milan given the strong support for both teams when they are based very close together. The issue apart from getting it running is ideally it needs to be set up in the short term before Wolves fans start to drift away en-mass. Wolves Monday & Cradley Thursday.
  13. I know a fella who's in the badge business same as Tolley and it would appear theres big bucks in it even though it seems something from the 1970/80's
  14. I will say this about tolley he is a strange character with his fingers in many strange pies but he is obviously a shrewd businessman
  15. No, he would of carried on at Birmingham had the council give him free reign over the stadium, his dream now is cradley but for the time being that is staying a dream, my own opinion for what’s it’s worth is if the bspl actually encouraged tolley with something he might do it, but they just call up say would you run ****** or ******, it’s going to cost you £??? And when he says no they don’t call him again, like they treat him like a cash cow
  16. Stranger things in speedway have happened.
  17. Probs around Poole yeah - gate and go zzzzz
  18. It would cost an absolute fortune to get that speedway ready...
  19. Saw him fall off and his bike do a "Buck-a-Roo" at Hyde Rd, well before cut outs were used... Every time one of the track staff went to it when it looked stopped, it sprung into life and went bouncing around the centre green, with the track staff running in all directions... RIP Cliff..
  20. In the " backtrack " mag a couple yrs ago said that it cost him £,20,000 but he would do it all again now if he had some land
  21. Thanks. I was only going by the pictures on-line and was thinking that it was nearer traditional speedway following but take your point. If it could be developed and start off like say a Workington did with basic facilities and grow sharing with speedway like a few other tracks it might not be too much of a problem providing the bangers can see some benefits of renting the arena to another party and generating some income. Do you know who promotes the meetings at the raceway?
  22. I remember Ian Hindle , white leathers.
