Bandits v Comets KO Cup 1/4 Final Sat 25/4/26 7pm
mikebv replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In fairness.... Dave does have an iPhone 17.... With "ultra zoom"..... Considering it is UK Speedway I am quite impressed that phone footage was used ... I see the sport more in line to use a "sketch artist" like they use in Crown Courts for the TV News... "Give us half and hour and I will have it drawn up. What colour was Cookie again?"... -
You are aware of the state of British Speedway, right? Lol

11.23 available now, down to 10.16 with the May averages (unless every replacement is equal or lower to rider being replaced). I don't see them making changes, at least not this early.

Adam rode today in Poland and had to withdraw after a nasty looking crash.

The referee should clearly be taken to task. -
Surely to goodness Northampton have already had a conversation with SCB and it's track inspector about what is required to get a licence and what they need to have in place before his visit. Tuesday should just be a check to make sure it has been done. I would also be amazed if someone hasn't already ridden a bike around there to test that there are no hidden horrors in the surface. I cannot believe that this has all been left to chance on Tuesday

Note nothing about using mobile phone footage from an " impartial fan " on the 3rd bend 🤔 -

Per the Regs 02.2.11 Duties of Referee g) where provided the Referee must use multi angle re-play technology supplied by Eurosport, BSN and the tracks own streaming service via a monitor -
The 'beams' that you refer to are not going to be cut off. They support the top rope for the stock cars and are an essential part of the safety fence. They have the same thing at Kings Lynn so why would they need to be removed at Northampton ?

Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
Sir Sidney replied to Dave_minall's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There are many parts of this that need to be fully clarified. I don't see how the Chairman of an organisation that has led this can survive. Firstly, what is actually in riders contracts this year and how does it compare to previous years? Secondly, who is actually saving the money? I believe Ben Barker had previously said that riders had £5 per race deducted to cover insurance. If that was the case, and that is not happening, then surely it is the riders and not the clubs making a saving. If the riders were aware then they could have used this to take out their own personal accident insurance, as some have published that they have done. Whether that is comparable is another matter. If the clubs were paying the insurance previously, and now are not and are making a saving, then surely they are complicit in this - even more so if they didn't explain this to their riders. If clubs either took out insurance to the same value, or advised their riders of the change - allowing riders to negotiate a contract so that they were no worse off, then the club may be exonerated. It remains a completely unedifying, and very seriously situation -
He must be "working from home"

Quite possibly as a lot of work is involved. However, and fingers crossed it does, it looks like you could build a lot of speed down the straights.

Says much about the state of British Speedway when you don't know whether the CEO is still in post. A chap called Ivan Mauger once said speedway is a sport with professional riders managed by amateurs. For my two pennorth , Pghil Morris has been great for the Speedway Grand Prix, where he is giiven the authority to manage the show . In British league speedway... didn't really stand a chance .... most promoters aren't interested in change.

Obviously haven't seen the classic meeting from Northside today @lewy one of the best meetings with passing in every race heat 15 a classic

Always said that th metal I beams that protrude around the outer perimeter were a major issue. Yet to see a photo of anything resembling a safe speedway track emerging . Good hot dog stall . Without those beams, a riding test of the track would have been possible as Lakeside ran for many seasons with white sticks marking the outer boudary of the track. Picked up a copy of Speedway Star from Sainsburys this week . Occasionally grab a copy when I see something of note , and the reopening of the Brafield Foxes speedway gained my interest. Interested to see that he track operated as a training facilty . With so little time before the opening night, I beams still to be cut off and no air fence yet delivered, you can see a delay occurring.

Can’t help but feel the track needed to have been watered more. There was just nothing round the outside on the back straight. Unfortunately the BSN meetings screened at Plymouth in recent times have been plagued with delays for one reason or another. `There’s no doubt improvements are being made but it’s just not delivered yet for the armchair fan.

"Technical" tracks, if you don't mind....

They'll be warmly welcomed alongside all of the other crap tracks 👍🏻😂
