Oxford Cheetahs v Glasgow Tigers 17/6/26 19:30
foreverblue replied to NumberEight's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The England match doesn't start until 9, the Oxford meeting should be nearly done by then. -
I completely disagree. If anything, signing Drew Kemp brings in a far better calibre of rider for where the Comets are at right now. For a start, Kemp doesn't come with a history of not turning up or pulling out at the eleventh hour. Cook has had chance after chance at various tracks, and the unpredictability just drains a team. Workington are completely correct in wanting to give the paying public a reliable, committed 1-to-7 on the track each week. Kemp works hard, and he puts the laps in. Reliability and commitment is far better than sporadic talent in a team sport. This is definitely not a write-off.

It hasn't, not markedly anyway other than the usual variations seen throughout a season. -
Oh dear, another one with issues.

Fifa are ar**holes, you'd think they'd have put England on a later slot knowing Oxford are riding.... -
Just seen he is ,welcome
-
Is or would be?
-
Under the circumstances kemp is a fantastic signing imo.
-
It's a good thing kemp will be slotting in as a second/third heat leader then. Although didn’t he keep kildemand and Jeppesen out of the number 1 berth at Berwick last season?
-
Go on then who are you gonna magic up to sign mid season riding mainly at weekends ? When most top riders are committed to being elsewhere or want more money than comets could afford 🤔🤔

He's in Witness Protection and has a new life and i can't tell you where otherwise his safety will be compromised. -
Hearing Charles Wright is ready to make his comeback, can he jump straight back in for Klindt, not sure what rules are with these multi 28 day rules

How can they watch both? Do they all have eyes like Marty Feldman in Oxford? -
Yes to the above, but he is nowhere near the standard required to replace Cook, anyone with a knowledge of speedway will tell you that. You've replaced a number one with a 2nd/3rd heatleader at best
-
At least Kemp won't just turn up when he feels like it.

With Glasgow being Scottish, I'd think they would be very reluctant to get this meeting rearranged, fixtures probably in place before the world cup draw took place -
Kemp away to Workington
-
Last year kemp had some good scores for Berwick, knows all the tracks and will be wanting to make an impression and earn some money, as has been travelling to Latvia/Poland to sit in the pits and not riding
-
Replacing a rider of Craig Cooks calibre with Drew Kemp. Oh dear, season is a right off
-
Hasn't been getting a team place recently at that Latvian club ( dagapulas ? ) which ride in the polish league
-
Yes,but sits in the pits and doesn’t get a ride sometimes. He’s not the only Brit in that situation though, must pay.!!
-
It's clearly been declining for a while but it's still mad that the likes of Simon Lambert and Kyle Newman are within the top 24 British riders (no offence to either). Also disappointing that Lambert has seemingly not bothered, I thought he'd at least attempt to retain his title. Let's be honest, he'd probably win riding backwards if Bewley doesn't turn up. I assume the wild cards are there to try and tempt Lambert/Woffinden over late in the day? Still, on the plus side it'll probably be a very tight meeting.
