But come on which TV Channel is going to televise a sport with 6 combatants in their league table - not really countrywide for them is it? So despite being told on here a one division of at least 16 teams won't work I bet the TV folk would prefer it.
-
Sshhh
-
That would be great and I hope that they are being proactive and targeting them. At this point, I would think coverage is more important than any monetary gain.

The issue is not necessarily track prep but speedway's business model. A home club has to pay the home teams point at home and the corresponding away fixture from the home meeting gate receipts. Therefore, it's paramount the home Promoter maximises the home gate income. From what I saw last night Poole achieved this.

Is it to be streamed?
-
Channel 4 or 5 might be the best bet? They are both trying to expand their sports coverage.

I was part of the consortium that tried to bring Eastbourne back and we looked at every league we could enter. Whilst for obvious reasons I can't say anything, it was a good amount. I do hope they can get another deal together but can't really see who with.

I feel a pro final is about both winning and being entertained. A Wembley football final doesn't disadvantage one team by the direction the grass has been cut but Poole purposely disadvantaged Glasgow using track preparation. That promoter you mention was complicit in the reduced gate takings because he failed to put a team together that was capable of winning at home on a regular basis.

GP line-up for 2026
RPNY replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Glasgow could be fun. Went to the SGP Challenge a couple of years ago, sadly were a lot of crashes that night but otherwise a decent meeting. Family that run the club are awesome and it was a short trip into the center of town. Hear worse ideas. Bradford being one of them... -

Am I bothered -
TNT will certainly not lose any sleep if dropping Speedway. They are well into British BSB,World BSB and Moto GP. Which is run very professionally compared to their Speedway.

As a steer is it worth 6 figures to each team MD ?

I don't read many threads on here these days but this one caught my eye for some reason. According to Speedway riders, history & results at least 358 riders were used across both leagues in 1970. I also took a look at my first season 1981. 36 teams began the season and at least 374 riders were used in official fixtures. I've also identified at least 100 riders who rode in second halves and junior league matches without making an 'official' appearance.

If there's anything in the Northampton speculation it's even harder to see how that could work with no tv deal
