  1. Past hour
  2. Speedway hasn’t got a pot to pee in, it can’t fund itself let alone let alone part fund a company like discovery to show its racing
  3. TNT have not gone broke but are in transition they will likely end up being online only as DMax like the rest of Europe. The Sky sports announcement this evening was meant to be in the morning but as usual UK newspapers couldn’t wait to break the news . As others have said it may be worth Future Speedway ventures going back to TNT to see if they are interested in broadcasting Speedway if the sport part funded the production costs . The CL announcement is a shock we were confident at Sky that we had the lower European competitions which actually features more UK clubs than the CL. However it was thought that TNT would retain the CL as there offer was a substantial increase on the last deal but Paramount have gone even higher
  4. Wasn't so long ago when they took over EUROSPORT. Since then, All TNT have done is lose broadcasting rights all over the place.
  5. On the basis that TNT haven't gone broke and that the Channel will still exist. Granted TNT may not like British Speedway but when you're running a Channel that's behind a pay wall, You'll need to produce content otherwise you won't get subscribers. Future Speedway Ventures and the BSPL do need to get in contact with TNT to explore the situation as they may have rejected the initial chance to renew the British Speedway contract due to them being invovled in a bidding war over UEFA Club Competition rights where the price was was soaring. Now that they've officially lost that bidding war, They will have a lot of money left to spend. Future Speedway Ventures and the BSPL will be desperate for a TV deal and they'll take any offer presented to them and TNT will be desperate for content after losing various rights to various Sports, Therefore they can get some easy content for peanuts when it comes to British Speedway.
  6. Today
  7. It is if the one left without a team is potentially GBs most promising prospect Pickering should not be allowed to drop back down to the Championship if it means a Brit misses out on a place
  8. Aye, he was a proper character, chatted to everyone. We'll miss him.
  9. This time last year we had 5 riders signed
  10. I think £1m ayear on Speedway was loose change for them.
  11. And tell them footballers earned £10 a week and speedway riders £100 in those days!
  12. I made the comment last year that stand alone clubs should be able to enter both NDL & NDT competitions, with the same 7 riders. Buxton & Kent Eagles for example. Then all the doubling up clubs join one or the other. As long as it's decided before signings are made a rider could choose to ride for Kent (NL) & Kent (NT) or like currently Oxford (NL) & Plymouth (NT) for example. It didn't work with Leicester this year, as they were a last minute addition, so only Sonny Springer rode for both Leicester sides.
  13. Anything interesting said at the STAARS meeting?
  14. Morley & Ablitt were overlooked due to the averages to a degree, plus Ablitt didn't want to travel. Both of these riders would have done better than a 2.00 rider, but couldn't because of the averages. So it's not correct to say they weren't picked because they wouldn't be competent enough.
  15. Did they bin it off or have they gone broke? They've lost an awful lot of content recently. Now we're hearing about all UEFA Club Competition rights being lost as well.
  16. TNT have lost Europa League and Conference League to Sky Sports now. BSPL need to find out whether TNT have gone broke or not because it's a potential opportunity to explore.
  17. Most people i know have TNT for moto gp, wsb,and bsb.
  18. I know Lando Norris' clothing brand done a Speedway marketing campaign, but again that wasn't well utilised
  19. TNT could maybe want to go for the hat trick of binning Speedway off for a third time 😂
  20. Too busy counting all the money they made last season from the free car park
  21. I wouldn't have thought Chelsea's aim was to be historically accurate about the history of Speedway. It is purely going to be about selling Merchandise. Positives for me, is at least the idea of the range has been inspired by Speedway, Stamford Bridge's history and is a reminder of that connection to the sport, which lots of people have absolutely no idea about.
  22. Most people I know only have a TNT subscription because of the Champions League (they have no interest is speedway, real world) so they could see a massive drop off in subscribers as it’s an expensive add on to a Sky/Virgin package.
  23. TNT/Warner are very likely to be taken over by Paramount!!
  24. With all this talk of rider shortages, surprised no has suggested that maybe some foreign riders might be keen UK a go . Visa and things might be required but who knows.
