  1. Past hour
  2. probably finishing the actual league matches that hadnt been run before the cut off.
  3. Haha well spotted, Poole should be on tomorrow though. Ive done it now!!
  4. I think DJs most famous failure was nothing to do with the engine but a cycle part - who knows if he'd done anything to that though!
  5. April and May are the driest months in the UK on average, so perhaps it's a spring sport? However, that's on average, interestingly (to me 🙂) August was one of the wettest months in both 2019 and 2024. There's nothing as predictable as rainfall🤣
  6. I remember in the 70's Colin Goad not the exactly what you would call "svelte " ( at Elle Port) drilled every part of his bike ,it looked more like a Meccano model . Graham Drury father looked at it and said to him "would you not be better to eat a few less pies " everyone just burst out laughing including Colin .

  9. Mike, you always talk a good game but I sometimes wonder why you come on this forum because most of your posts are full of negativity. If I had a quid for everytime you've used the phrase "mickey mouse sport" I certainly wouldn't be taking my holidays in Cleethorpes or Skeggy! I'm also having difficulty understanding your recent post. If the play offs are to remain, are you suggesting that the finals should be held in July or August when the weather has a better chance of behaving itself? The league matches themselves have to lead to a climax of some sorts so if the play offs are held in July, what the hell then happens in August and September? I've known past Julys that have been a complete washout and Septembers that have been akin to an indian summer so blaming the powers that be for this current weather situation with the subsequent cancellations etc is both unfair and pretty unreasonable.
  10. 100%.... Baffled by the moaning by Ipswich fans about an opponent's poor performance ....😁 And he got a bonus point more than Dan did...😁..
  11. poor choice of guests based on what ? there past result at armadale ? 7. Simon Lambert 3, 2', 2, 3, 1, 3 = 14+1 5. Nicolai Klindt - 3, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 17 terrible choice 😁
  12. It's a "summer sport" in so much that this is the time of year that has the least rainfall.. And higher temps.... When a sport relies so much on "decent" weather, to attract its crowd, you really should be maximising those months that are drier and warmer.. The first month or so can attract crowds based on the enthusiasm of fans after the long winter break, but, as has been said, as you hit the colder and wetter time of year in late September and October, sitting at home and watching on TV becomes more of an attractive option.. Which impacts the "be all and end all" play offs.,
  13. Might not rain in Sheffield tonight! Forecast is bad but so was the one at Poole.
  14. Fixture has a new date of Monday 22nd September. The BSPA have decided that Thursday 25th September is only a reserve date. The final will not start until after the SON Monday 6th October Leicester/ Sheffield v Ipswich. Thursday 9th October Ipswich v Leicester/Sheffield
  15. But you wouldnt back a firm ground horse if there was a danger of heavy rain.
  16. Who told you it was a summer sport? Ive been going since 1969 and it has always been March to October.
  17. That's like backing a horse and it trailing in last, but sticking a hundred quid on it didn't make it a bad decision 😁
  18. Absolutely, to prove the point I just checked an old 1983 Leicester programme, our last league matches of the season was 23rd October v Belle Vue and there were still another BL fixture on 25th October between Halifax and Cradley.
  19. Personally I think he realised BV would not go through anyway so didnt see the point in bothering,he even got passed by Ellis in one race before Ellis fell trying to pass Blodorn.
  20. A "summer sport" running (hopefully, fingers crossed), in October....!!☺️ Hopefully Scott has developed some innovative way of settling who wins the final if it doesn't get completed...😄 Sadly, it is very much rinse and repeat with UK Speedway., As has been suggested on here, maybe it's time for one point each if a meeting gets called off? I am sure that alone would get more meetings ran on time during the season, given no income would be forthcoming for either promoters or riders... Track covers have been shown to work so there really isn't any excuse to not invest in them.. And any bona fide professional sport, so impacted by weather, would make such defence against the vagaries of the UK weather top of its list of priorities.. Priority race nights should make the completion of the season something easy to deliver... Given seven teams, six matches per week were possible with only 84 needing to be ran.. Three and a half months of Speedway to be completed in six months.. There is a phrase that goes "Winners always find a way"... UK Speedway definitely needs some "Winners" in the leadership of it going forward....
  21. Yes, ignore the television, and listen to a poster on a forum.
