Yes sport teams have many varied structures for sure. And in many ways speedway is unique. But the sport in the UK is sadly going down a whirlpool of despair and something drastic is required to avoid a complete disaster - and in my view I see one division as worth trying. Worth trying is all I'm saying. BTW I think one bad influence is the GP system. One example of how it affected Workington was when Stoney qualified as a GP rider. We then realised that for several Saturday nights a guest rider would appear at Derwent Park to cover for Stoney - I think we got very accustomed to seeing Sean Wilson as a regular Comet. OK he scored well but personally I missed my fix of Carl Stonehewer speedway and I wasn't alone with that.

Should UK adopt Polish League Heat Formula and Rules
Ben91 replied to Fromafar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not for me. While the tactical side of things is interesting to an extent I want to see as few delays as possible between heats. Chopping and changing riders promotes multiple heats in a row for individual riders and prolonged intervals between those heats. - Today

Im not worrying... personally

Should UK adopt Polish League Heat Formula and Rules
Bagpuss replied to Fromafar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Spot on đ -
It's almost pointless worrying about riders for next year, given how obscenely different views seem to be on league structure and points limits for next year right now. I'm not sure they've even agreed when to have the AGM yet.

Ipswich Witches 2025

Spot on I think. Doyle, Brennan definite from this year alongside Rew. I still hope a deal can be done with Emil -
I donât think they would need that. If there was a household name from the sport it would help, but there isnât. The celebrity brings in casual/their own fans, fans of the sport watch for the sport and to see how the celebrity copes in that world.

Peterborough Panthers 2023
PersonalResponsibility replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Plans for a 1,500 homes and leisure village development on the East of England Showground are like to be rejected when they go back before councillors next week. Councillors will be told that the failure of the applicants the East of England Agricultural Society (EEAS) and its land promoter the Asset Earning Power Group (AEPG) to put together a Section 106 agreement means the development would not provide the necessary infrastructure to make it acceptable in planning terms. So members of Peterborough Councilâs planning and environmental protection committee, which meets on October 21, will be recommended by officers to refuse approval for the development. It comes after more than a year after approval was given for the first outline planning application for 850 homes and a leisure village on part of the Showground. A second outline application for 650 homes on an adjoining part of the site was initially rejected by later approved. Both approvals were made conditional upon a Section 16 agreement being put in place. The move to reject the applications is likely to be welcomed by hundreds of people who had opposed the development of the 164 acre venue. In particular, there was huge opposition to the fact the development would mean the end of more than 50 years of speedway racing at the Peterborough Panthers track. However, the refusal does not automatically mean a return to the venue for speedway. The meeting is being held after the developers missed a number of deadlines to finalise the Section 106 agreement which sought to ease the impact of the development on the nearby communities. Councillors will be told there has been a disagreement between the Society and AEPG A report to the meeting states: âAt no point up to the Committee decisions did either set of applicants fundamentally question the section 106 requirements. "More recently however, it is understood that the promotion agreement between AEPG and EEAS was not continued beyond March 2025. "EEAS have since taken a more active role in the applications as the section 106 has progressed, and it has become apparent that there is disagreement between the applicants on the head of terms as carried through into the draft section 106 agreement.â It adds: âHowever EEAS, as joint applicants and landowners, accepted the fundamental terms agreed by Committee and are seeking to introduce clauses which significantly deviate from them or are not material. "The Councilâs position has been set out clearly and Officers do not consider that there is scope for further negotiation on these fundamental issues and therefore that there are no extenuating circumstances which justify a further extension of time.â -
I'd say it would be a major surprise if Oxford reversed their decision and stayed in the top flight.

There should be no surprises if next year Oxford are in the top flight.

What about Northampton?

Can only be Cradley since late August 1959! -
The trouble is this is exactly what gets people hyped up about young riders. If you compare Ace Pijper and Will Cairns only one of them looks like a future top level speedway rider. Pijpers style is absolutely honking yet over recent form his scores have been tremendous. On the other hand cairns looks the part but he has not really done much scoring wise of late. But if you had to back one to go on and âmake itâ you would pick cairns purely on ability on a bike. Pijper looks like he is just wobbling round trying his best to finish 4 laps and Cairns is as smooth as butter. Styles lure people into thinking riders are better than they are I suppose the likes of Adam Ellis, Lewis Bridger and Ashton Boughen etc back that up.

As itâs a Mickey Mouse cup ( initiated to fill up fixtures ) and the sport has Mickey Mouse rules letâs hope itâs not Mickey Mouse guesting !

Think Rew will return next year
-
There will be some changes, but I doubt that Tom will be one of them...
-
There are a lot of stupid, complicated rules in Speedway. This way of deciding a tie and the countback system used in most individual meetings are not in that bracket. They promote racing to win. If everyone races to win then the racing should be more entertaining and the overall winners are the paying public.
-
That a hint? Pencil Tom in for 2026.

What about Northampton?
szkocjasid replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If anyone is planning to take Northampton into the Prem, they must know the Prem needs them more than they need top tier racing. Should be in a strong position to dictate that heat leaders get shared out etc. Could say the same for Oxford, if they'll only be left with Birmingham's riders, stick to Champ racing?
