  1. Past hour
  2. Washing quickly taken back in Rain has returned - looks like it will be light but persistent for a bit
  3. 1. Leagues to be run on the Danish system of 5 rider teams with maximum of 1 GP rider per team. 2. Each team to name a squad of 6/7 riders. 3. Teams to run on their preferred night and if rider/riders are unavailable, National League riders to be drafted in. 3a. No guests under any circumstances, redeclarations allowed once per month. 4. North League; Belle Vue, Sheffield, Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Redcar and Workington. South League: Poole, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Leicester, Oxford, Plymouth and Scunthorpe. 5. Teams having National League teams to stage meetings after main meeting with same format as Danish system. 6. Teams not having National League teams to stage second half with minimum of 6 heats. 7. North and South winners and second places to meet in semi finals and final. 8. League cup to consist of all teams and drawn in first round with 1 from North and 1 from South. Overall winners of each match through to quarter final with team losing with highest aggregate score to go through also. This is all fantasy, but something needs to be done now. Everyone to look at the big brighter future and get over themselves.
  4. It already is a shale track and has been for a number years as the promoters wanted to get the European drivers to attend major meetings and they very much prefer/insist racing on shale. From what I understand the move proved to be worthwhile.
  5. Rob always runs teams to win at home on a shoestring budget he's not the kind of fella who's willing to repeatedly drop six figures every year.
  6. Pray god its not poor old Tolley behind this huge expense to get up and running in an area with no Speedway following/heritage in the most expensive league of the three to boot.
  7. Peter Oakes picking up on the Northampton possibility again in the Speedway Star today. He's reporting that someone is looking into the viability of laying a shale track and joining the Premiership again. A 2,000+ grandstand added to the stadium now, and the owners apparently interested in bringing speedway onboard. Could it be a realistic option this time?
  8. i like the 4 team tournament but its hardly going to change the fortunes of speedway around.
  9. Today
  10. Bring back the 4 Team Tournament,Going back we also had the silver helmet match race over 3 heats.
  11. The kids running races are a good way to bring familys in as long as kids go free or a quid. it enables those parents who would normally stop at home as the kids get bored, but now they are probably the ones asking to go.
  12. Persistent rain for the last hour with for half of that time a torrential downpour (approx 2 miles from stadium but heading in that direction) Forecast is dry and warm from here on with potential good sunshine from early evening
  13. It’s just the end of season fixture shambles nothing new.!
  14. Just read a Polish report on Facebook saying Swindon council approved new stadium? Let’s wait and see 🤔
  15. By the way,, hard chargers are good,,its not a criticism.
  16. Hard chargers like a couple of the Sheffield team ? Bit harsh when you have Doyle !! It might be a 'nothing meeting' to you, but the result of this will decide 2nd and 3rd in the table, which impacts on home advantage for the 2nd leg of our playoff.
  17. I see on the cover of this weeks Speedway Star they are talking about a new track for next season. I havent bought the Star for ages so does anyone who does have any info on where this new track is?
  18. Yeah but one less meeting on probably a slippery track against hard chargers like a couple of the Sheffield team,, may do us a favour. A nothing meeting like tonight isn't worth the risk
  19. Some have polish meetings brennan & sayfutinov have for sure
  20. Have too agree, also the decent crowds add too the atmosphere, the racing can be ordinary at times but there is always the atmosphere among the fans that will make it a good day out for them.
  21. Hopefully this will be called off,, riders then fresh and hopefully injury free for play off
  22. I knew I wasn't going fully mad, just couldn't remember where and what side would have had priority! Thanks
  23. He posted that Monday would clash with a Swedish rearranged fixture but that the Ipswich Semi would have priority
  24. Good post. I agree that the BSPL with only 4 current active members does not indeed have the wherewithal to steer the sport to better times. It definitely needs the help of professional business, marketing and PR consultants to develop strategies for sponsorship, fan engagement, improved media coverage and the attraction of investment. However this costs money and the BSPL don't have much. Promotions need to urgently think about improving facilities and introducing activities that make Speedway more family oriented and not just about the racing. It also in the shorter term needs to be serious about realigning the costs of running the sport based on current attendances.
  25. I'm sure he posted on socials a few days ago that if Ipswich top the league he's got a clash with play off dates... just checked, Play offs in Poland are 8th and 14th so should be fine
