  2. This is why it’s difficult for them to agree on any concrete rules and regulations on league structures for 2026 until they know what (if any) TV revenue will be incoming. It’s not ideal to say the least. Fingers crossed a TV partner comes forward from somewhere so they know where they stand and can crack on with the set up for next year with certainty. As it stands, they must be planning with two different strategies.
  3. 7.88 with 2.5% British reduction if that’s still in vogue for 2026
  4. It isn’t harsh. Professional sports enforce their rules regardless of whether someone is inconvenienced or not.
  5. Well this does seem a bit like trimming up for Christmas in June, but hey ho ho ho. Is it Connor Bailey being referred to? If so what average would he come in on. I wouldn't fancy relying on three youths, cos you never really know how riders will respond when stepping up. Remember Sam Hagon's switch to No2. Also no mention of Kerr, OK not everybodies fav early season. But has come on this season scoring important points in some matches, good for another year at least.
  6. Latest averages have Drew Kemp at 8.12 changing to 8.08 at end of the season
  7. The crowd was over 400 that day. From what I know of crowd levels the one that really stands out is Berwick.
  8. You’re being harsh here. The whole idea is to give young British riders a helping hand to make their way up the speedway ladder. It’s not as black and white as you’re making out. Jenkins has been mentioned so let’s use him as an example. He had to be careful what he said, but he all but admitted Birmingham approached him but he wanted to stay with Ipswich in the main due to local sponsorship he’d acquired there. Ipswich were realistically never going to sign him in their 1-6, so rising star it had to be. So you’re saying, that he should have had no say in where he went, gave up the sponsorship he’d have got at Ipswich, and either accepted Birmingham’s offer or missed out completely? How is that helping the young British riders? Extremely harsh. All the rising star’s should have been left to negotiate with whoever they wanted. It wasn’t a bad idea in theory, but poorly executed and if the rising star system is kept then the priority “picks” part of it needs to be removed. Edit: Found the article in question https://ipswichwitches.co/2025-signing-jordan-jenkins/ “It’s probably been the most stressful two months of my career. I’ve always been in a fortunate position where I’ve had a club to go to no matter what but after riding for Ipswich last year I wanted to be back and made no secret of that. Before the season was finished, I was injured and was speaking to Chris (Louis) and Ritchie (Hawkins) about how much I wanted to be back, but it wasn’t confirmed that I would be eligible to be a Rising Star, so it was a bit up in the air. Chris and Ritchie will be glad to get it done as I have been hounding them every week for the past two months! It shows what a good club Ipswich are. “With the draft system and the way it is, it means Birmingham had first pick. When a club and a rider want to work together, and you have developed a fan base and sponsors in and around that club I don’t think it should be able to be dictated that way. But that’s all ifs and buts, I’m at Ipswich now and I couldn’t be happier.”
  9. Kemp is under 8. Klindt is the only rider over 8 at Plymouth And as Scunny, Workington and Edinburgh have no riders over 8 there would be vacancies at these clubs. This appears to be reasonable proposal to share out the league's top riders. There are 9 teams and 9 riders over 8.
  10. Come back Ace Pijper for '26, all is forgiven.
  11. Certainly Harris suggested he had already signed for Glasgow and that it would be two leagues.
  12. So if its postponed which could happen looking at weather forecast he may not be available.
  13. A typical well meaning rule to try and even up the league more... And then also, typically in UK Speedway fashion, they eff it up by allowing the No1 pick to say "I'm not riding there"... (Which I get if offered more money and have local sponsors elsewhere).. In the US draft system, the bottom team gets several concessions from the teams who want their pick, should they not want to use that player .. Eg The team with the highest average last season would have needed to offer Birmingham either money or a rider/riders.. Instead we had Birmingham being out of their depth again which did them, nor Speedway, any favours . Basically. Either do it properly, or don't use it at all... Personally, out of their depth No7's do nothing for the sport, nor them, in any league ..
  14. Question is with TNT currently not interested in negotiating a deal for British Speedway Premiership if the only available option is the closed network of BSN will sponsors be happy with this lower level of general exposure and also will fans be happy to pay an additional £350 a year to watch Premiership Speedway ? I know clubs that have streamed meetings this year have had less than 100 viewers on a PAYG model which is not cost effective
  15. Today
  16. They’re not owed a ride. It’s an opportunity they sign up for to have a team spot. That can be at any of the clubs in the top league and it’s known in advance. Don’t like it, don’t sign up. That’s not unfair in the slightest.
  17. Don’t even know where to start with that. Yeah, let’s just agree to disagree and we’ll leave it at that.
  18. I cant see how the league can remain the same ,with only 5 pos 6 in the so called top league you cannot run a league like that. For me it has to be one league 6 riders and two 2 pointers at the back. Building ave something like 37 i would guess . Any top boys left will go and ply their trades in poland and sweden. So what you will be left with is in effect good second string riders as per how the top league was, and a bunch of reserves and two pointers.
  19. New Championship rule for 2026 which will mean the following riders will not being able to remain with their current championship clubs Dan Thompson Drew Kemp Danny King Nicolai Klindt Peter Kildemand Rule being brought in to assist the amount of young riders development e.g Cairns ,Rushen, Trigger,Bailey, Ace P , Hodder, Perry etc so basically are cutting out 2nd Heatleaders so youngsters will have at least ones less experienced rider in their races per meeting
  20. Shame if true, his 7.34 avg would only go up. But the time might be right for him to take a plunge into Poland and Sweden whilst doing the premiership. would open the door to a big signing
  21. Surely there must have be people somewhere that could make this venue work or has it been looked at already that i dont know about? If so sorry to go over old ground but it looks perfect venue for someone to try!!!
  22. Disagree. The riders know what they’re signing up for. If you want a chance to ride in the top league then you enter the draft. If you’re drafted somewhere then you ride for the team who pick you. If you don’t like it, don’t enter the draft.
  23. The trouble we have now is the result of the relaxing of the average conversion rate between the two leagues and doubling up becoming a free for all about 15 years ago. Before then there was a noticeable difference in standard between the leagues (all three leagues that is). Sounds like that one was driven by rider power, but the promoters also allowed it to happen. There’s now not enough riders of the standard of team spots available. I think this is half the problem, nobody wants the sport to be watered down. It feels like a necessary evil though, because those “good enough” riders just don’t exist in large enough quantities so we’re lumbered with the current incredibly flawed system.
