Lions v Witches, Monday 6th July

Not really sure what all the hysterics here are about. Riders do get ill, like the rest of us. I have no idea what Lawson's illness was, or the severity of it, but it's quite possible to be ill. Ipswich could have used a guest facility. All they need to do is produce a doctors' note within 24 hours of the meeting taking place. (But this would have resulted in Lawson being suspended for 7 days for a non-speedway illness). With it all being at such short notice it looks like it was impossible to get a guest, and the only cover they could find was Freddy Hodder (who lives 10 minutes from the Leicester track). So it made sense to not use a facility for Lawson, and use the only option available (Hodder) who fits well within the "no facility" criteria. (up to 75% of Lawson's average). That way with Ipswich not using a facility, Lawson isn't suspended. -

Richard let the Ipswich management know he was running late and that he would miss the track walk and asked another mechanic to fit a tyre for him as would be there for the parade but then at 6:25 rang back said he was feeling ill and had turned around to head home. They advised him to continue to the track and just get there when he could so the medic could sign him out the meeting officially I assume they could then use IRR but he wouldnโt do that so then frantic phone calls were made to get Freddy Hodder to ride who did a decent job and looked on the pace . I have it on good authority that Richard Coleman was not at all impressed with Lawsons attitude so will be interesting to see if any action is taken against him. -
Will Saturday v Berwick be called off due to a footy match in Miami

British final 15th August

World Cup final starts at 8pm. If the powers that be cannot get the meeting done and dusted by 5pm at the very latest, then they need a good old kick up the jacksy. I'd even go as far as to say that heat one starts at 2pm, no delays because theres a queue, if you can't get there on time, tough. The only thing to change that would be a major RTA etc in the area. -
I considered going to that meeting and went online around 6pm and the grandstand had sold around 500 out of the circa 1800... The back straight with around 400.. Pay at the gate would have added a few more I am sure.. Streaming must have some impact but it does bring revenue... Such low crowds must be a worry though...

It is very clear that a stadium is the preferred option for the residents, the local authority and the would be owners for this to be a community facility that is led by it's motorsport heritage. All of those parties need to come together to enable a sustainable operation to be permitted, it is not a simple as chucking a Sunday boot sale on the car park. Overall consent needs to open the door of opportunity with the right balance of utilisation it could be a huge success.

Updates said a 500 crowd...? Surely not...?..

The 7 day suspension should stop that happening though? Mind you with fewer fixtures these days, riders probably won't miss much. What I don't get about the guest rules, lets say I suggest you shouldn't get a facility if a rider misses a match to race abroad, the response is normally "that will lower the crowd / it's not fair on the fans / it's not fair on the team" - but in an instance like this when no facility is allowed, all those reasons don't matter? -

He will miss Ipswich Thursday. A simple way to fix this would be. If you miss due to illness you miss your next fixture for your clubs. -

I say this respectfully, i hope this is the case. He needs to learn a hard lesson. Hes a good rider. Imagine he took it seriously. How good would he be -
Unfortunately no Poole fixtures this week, so if/when Mr Lawson gets a 7 day ban he won't miss a fixture.

I have a feeling that Ipswich wonโt. -
While there is life, there is hope. Apparently there are investors prepared to put their money in to Coventry Speedway. This has been mentioned before on here. If this is true, then the Supporters of Coventry Speedway and those with the interest in this Sport of Speedway nationally should support 'Bees' Supporters efforts 100% and that is what I am trying to do. Remember, the Northampton 'Foxes' started from a much lower base than Coventry will, as I believe that there is still a hard core of Coventry Supporters that would support the Club. Northampton started with next to nothing as far as support is concerned. Up The 'Bees' !!!

Don't disagree but hobsons choice when you don't have any competitors? Once again the sport has failed its customers.

Pleased for Northampton.

Trouble is his clubs let him get away with all this nonsense. -
Good job no pilots fixture this week, as it looks like a 7 day ban for Mr Lawson, did not turn up at Leicester tonight for Ipswich, alledgally turned round due to illness ๐ค or were the bike/dope testers waiting ๐ค๐ค๐

Five heat wins at home is dreadful but fair play to Northampton, they thoroughly deserved that if not more. Back to the drawing board for Lynn!
