  2. From what I remember at the time it was a choice or Rickardsson or Gollob to stay at Foxhall in 99. John & Magda chose Gollob polish ties & all that. That then led to Rickardsson & Weston departing for Lynn Western had Swedish ties. Western then tried to take Chris too.
  3. So many of the issues faced goes back to the lack of any real prestige, publicity and financial reward for winning any of the domestic titles.. If that could somehow be fixed then everything else just falls into place... You could have a "decent prize", and a trophy, (like Rugby League does for example), for topping the table and then a separate "main prize" for winning the play offs.. Meaning each meeting has something riding on it .. Unfortunately, there appears almost to be not enough relevance to the sport in the UK, other than providing riders with a decent six month income and promoters with an expensive hobby they can indulge in... Play Off final crowds show there is a more than decent following still for Speedway, they just need to find a way to get, at least, a few hundred of those who attend the play offs only to attend, even only occasionally, during the rest of the season.. Can they do it?...
  4. The play offs are such a dichotomy, on the one hand they can and often do provide great crowds for the finals BUT for the period between the season starting and then its a lame duck financially wise. The play offs are here to stay but they simply must find a way of making the qualifying matches actually mean something because one meeting is not going to pay for all the rest, and for those who don't make the finals, they are on a hiding to nothing. Maybe only meeting the other teams once would help? yep that's just five home league meetings but if your losing money every time you run, the answer is run less often, and if you run less often, people will make more effort to come because now your dealing with limited chances to watch certain terms and sometimes certain riders.
  5. Today
  6. A team that regularly delivered the best crowds wherever they visited.. A perfect example of "UK Speedway Vision"...
  7. Would they have kept them anyway seeing as Western & Griffin enticed Rickardsson and nearly did the same with Louis? 💰
  8. Agree. That’s was suppose to have for the 99 season but was scrapped to stop Ipswich keeping Louis, Rickardsson & Gollob.
  9. I bet they didn't!! I think that Paul Burbidge's piece in the Star sums up the whole thing perfectly.
  10. I think I’d rather keep on JT than Kemp
  11. I'm sure Poole have the power and reputation to just about to sign anyone they want at this level. Who wouldn't want to ride for a team who's basically guaranteed top spot and probably the grand final? They do it every year. Probably Mitch will be back at Oxford, but I'm sure his head can be turned if Poole decided he was the final piece of the puzzle. Same goes for just about all the riders in this league.
  12. If you listen to 360 podcast it has David Howe on and he did say he thinks he pushed the SCB into making that statement and thinks they didn't want to make it 🤷‍♀️
  13. Mitch over Kyle for sure. One is young and improving and one is at their level. Edit - although expect Mitch to be at Oxford?
  14. Mitch is better than both imo 🤷‍♂️ but I guess it all depends on what the Pirates want, I'm not involved in the club at all. Did love my 3 or 4 trips there throughout the years, but it's been a while. I expect Poole to put another championship winning team out..... Again.
  15. It's not just baffling. The SCB continue to paint themselves into a corner. They declared a breach of the rules and continue to fail to say how they came to that conclusion. The referee at the time and Poole and others continue to say there was no conclusive evidence. However the ruling body says otherwise. Simple solution. The SCB explain their "breach statement".
  16. What a great night, unbelievable, loved every minute of it. Sell out crowd, wonderful atmosphere in the South stand, great meeting presentation. What an amazing season for the Aces, the most dominant since Ipswich 98 id say. A brilliant team full of average improvers. Untouchable at home and excellent away. Top of the league all season, then 4 out of 4 play off legs. A recored extending 15th top flight title. 54th top flight trophy. Capped off with a full Peter Craven suite to welcome the Champions. I can't even remember what tine i left, but I do know plenty of beer was drunk. UTA♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️♣️
  17. I had Kyle Newman instead of Jenkins, but then I thought Jenkins would push Cooper to reserve, so why not 😁 I also rate Jenkins higher than Newman and think that his 5.05 average is a bargain (although I know Kyle is loved at Poole)
  18. The wage Bill would be the issue though,it was the reason they dropped down.Where is all this support money going to come from.
  19. Agreed they do look like they will be a real force in 4-5 years could be the next generation of Gunderson, Neilson, Peterson, Knudsen and Jan O'Pederson we need someone to break Polands hold on the sport. I do think Cairns, Scott and Cooper will all be future gp riders we just ideally need another two really good UK youngsters to come through to get a decent world team cup squad.
  20. Somehow they managed to use the 2022 script, even down to saying that Belle Vue won 91-89 on aggregate despite losing to Sheffield on the day, to a backdrop with the score showing Belle Vue well in front.
  21. Harrison has been at 5 for Scunthorpe for much of the season. Also let's not forget Kyle Newman..
  22. The Danes are going to be unreal in 5-10 years, probably the nation who'll be pushing Poland and Australia the most. They're the big 3 in years to come imo.
  23. He will be fine long term though big future ahead if he's sensible, there's a lot of very good under 21 riders coming through from many nations currently, the danes especially looking promising with current crop of youngsters.
  24. Let's not forget he had a nasty double leg break when racing in USA last winter. Probably partly explains his poor initial form at Ipswich?!
  25. If the Premiership had: - A genuine step up in rider level - A larger prize pot - A larger away following from fans Poole would move up.
