  2. 📢 Poole v Redcar Postponement | Message from promotion Due to the forecast of heavy rain, we made the early decision to postpone tonight’s play-off semi-final against Redcar in order to save travelling supporters a wasted journey, to avoid unnecessary disruption for the riders. Our concern was not only getting the meeting started, but also whether we could complete all 15 heats. I also want to address any suggestion that we postponed to gain the advantage of staging the second leg. That simply isn’t the case. Having finished above Redcar in the league we were entitled to the choice of leg and had no issue with going first and wanted to get the semi-final underway as soon as possible. As it turned out, the forecast proved unreliable and the rain didn’t arrive until around 9pm. While we may have managed to get underway, there was no guarantee of completing the full meeting. For a play-off semi-final, we want 15 heats of proper racing on a track that gives the riders the chance to race, not just circulate on a wet surface. I sincerely apologise to everyone who has been inconvenienced. Nobody is more frustrated by the situation than I am. Dan Ford
  3. Rain forecast all day around Middlesbrough/Redcar area on Sunday. Might as well call it off now just in case.
  4. Some very easy and workable solutions based on lots of other sports. But they are as ever miles behind the curve. Football decided to do something with price capping for away fans Cricket counties let away members get in for free, to some games. Too much self interest in promotions, but what they should be looking to do is centralising & discounting tickets. It took them years to realise that streaming was a good idea. Play offs are only really appealing when the result has a degree of uncertainty on it. As you say can't really blame fans if they don't go, changeable weather, a team you see multiple times & the result is going to predictable. Whole competition needs radical change.
  5. Great. After 9pm. When was it due to start 730pm? Could have been done and dusted by then.
  6. Ok it's not cheating but it is skulduggery, every man and his dog knew Poole would do whatever they had to do to ensure this meeting was called off. I was looking forward to the return leg on Sunday but now I will pray to the rain gods that the gesture is reciprocated. They say "cheats don't prosper" but Poole Pirates have proved year on year that they are an exception to the rule I
  7. As I mentioned before... Around 150 Aces fans attended the first leg of the POSF a couple of years ago on the Thursday at Foxhall... It seems there is a lack of belief in how important the competition actually is nowadays, such is the amount of apathy shown by so many not attending from both teams last night.. Given how the sport is ran, I cannot blame them, however, it must be worrying for promoters when even semi finals cannot get enough people interested from both sides.. Weather permitting, I am sure Ipswich will get a decent crowd, but I don't think 150 Aces fans will be there this time...
  8. And not the first time due to a forecast! If the forecast is wrong that is not our fault.
  9. It seems there will only be 13 heats in Gislaved due to track conditions.
  10. Today
  11. How do they get away with increasing prices for a semi final anyway. No the wonder people are slowly drifting away from Speedway, fleecing the punters is certainly not encouraging the public to attend. These days, when money is tight, to say the least, it just makes the Promoters look like money grabbing sharks. They should be rewarding their loyal Supporters with discounts, not making them pay through the nose. I don't agree with the 'play offs' anyway, but this takes the biscuit.
  12. About to. H10 call off imo, glad we avoided that tbh. Don't want to be losing a third of home leg.
  13. The forecast this morning for Poole was 95% chance of rain from 18.00 hours, if it hadn't been cancelled, it would have been why wasn't it cancelled bla bla bla
  14. Witches to go through. Especially if Doyle repeats his rider of the night performance of 2 wins out of 5 rides the other night???
  15. I doubt many Ipswich fans would go to Manchester on a Monday night with the home leg on Thursday and who can blame them … same maybe said for Belle Vue on Thursday they might not travel as it isn’t the final
