  1. Past hour
  2. They do Fish O Mania, which unbelievably gets TV coverage (Sky Sports) https://fishomania.net/watch-live/ And he setup the PGA EuroPro Tour which had a 20 year run. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PGA_EuroPro_Tour
  3. The Hearns sponsor/promote/manage Fishing and Golf?????? Seriously??
  4. If people think a speedway track is something they don’t want there is a new menace coming down the road for green belt land and that is solar battery facilities and there is one being proposed about 5 miles from the proposed cradley track although it does fall under another council and they are going to spring up all over the place over the next 5 years ruining the green landscape
  5. I'd imagine they'd save a fortune doing this, especially as there'd be about 12 people watching every week.
  6. Maybe financial considerations. Sounds like most teams lost big bucks this year and with rumours of no tv deal must be terrified.
  7. i can only see a 36 limit for 5 riders and have 2 rising stars they cant fight and fight for one league and then lower the limit when they get there way surely.............. or can the
  8. What would be the reason for a 36 point limit? If there's less clubs then no reason to lower the limit. Unless it's to encourage Champ clubs to step up / Northampton to join in?
  9. If the rumours are true and it looks like with a low points limit maybe at the back of all the promoters mind is replace your existing number one with another rising star and you will save a massive amount of money has I have head in some cases what a number one gets at some clubs is about the same as the other two heat leaders get combined.
  10. Non except the track, maybe changing rooms as a permanent building, the rest will be containers for storing equipment, it will look similar to Workington which to anyone who has been there looks like a country park with a track in the middle, you won’t see it off the road and wouldn’t know it was there, no it’s not straightforward and the council certainly aren’t making it straightforward
  11. Quoted as it highlights the financial position of the sport Here's a stark comparison which shows the gulf with football 10 miles from Ipswich is Needham Market. They play in the Southern League - effectively the 7th tier in the English game Yesterday they opened a new stand which cost £358,000 to build funded primarily by grants provided by the Premier League (£150k) and Southern League (£100k) and other agencies including £10k from local councils The stand apparently holds under 300 fans but would accommodate most of the average attendance. The game last night attracted their record attendance at 1105
  12. Do they? If so, a great idea... Reward success rather than give out top money guarantees regardless of performance...
  13. Today
  14. Not necessarily that straightforward for greenbelt. Still needs a strong planning justification for the site. Will it interfere with the openness of the greenbelt? What buildings/structures are being planned?
  15. Belated Congratulations too Poole we gave it our best shot at home and fell just short , regardless what people say or think Poole are the benchmark we all aspire to become.
  16. Really? And don't they pay handsome bonuses for certain wins?
  17. Why would you when you could have someone like Howarth or Dan T at res?
  18. You assume that all clubs have freedom of access to their stadia on any day. That's simply not the case. Also dictating to fans, let alone riders, when they must attend to see, or be in, their team wouldn't work imo.
  19. If the Cardiff GPs that they "promoted" are being used to dispute his lack of experience then it's more worrying than we thought. Fingers crossed it's not as bad as it's being made out. The calendar has often been announced late in the year, so the end of October is hardly a cause for concern there.
  20. I’ve read elsewhere on this forum that 36 point limit for Premier League next season. If so the presumption must be the limit for the Championship will also be significantly reduced, perhaps to facilitate the integration of NDL riders? Not sure this approach is the “exciting plans for 2026” indicated by the Oxford promotion when announcing the end of the Spires - but there again speedway promoters have on many occasions instigated changes that leave fans wondering what planet those in charge of the sport are living on. If it is to be 36 points, we’ll sure puts a different consideration of team building for 2026
  21. Result of a stroke according to Michael. It should also be remembered that Andy had a very successful motor cycle dealership in Cambridge too. He was a top bloke, always time for a chat.... RIP Andy An interesting article on Andy : https://www.motoheadmag.com/andy-lee-godspeed/
  22. If that is to be the case for the Premier League would it be a fair presumption that the Championship will also be reduced to something like 33 points? Maybe this is the way two leagues will be formed to incorporate NDL level and say “bye” to the top earning stars.
  23. Apparently, Andy Lee passed away on Monday, the father of Michael Lee. Andy was a very accomplished scrambles/moto x man, but was very instrumental in nurturing Michael's success on speedway and long track. He did a lot for the development of moto cross and used to run his own practice track in Cambridgeshire. RIP Andy. Condolences to family and friends.
  24. Wilbur Hancock has said on social media that it will be streamed on PPV - details to follow.
  25. Richard Coleman, head of Mayfield Sports Events, has recently come under scrutiny regarding his involvement in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix (SGP), his appointment within the Tech3 MotoGP team, and prior ties to European Rugby League. Mayfield and FIM Speedway Mayfield Sports Events, founded by Coleman and based near Silverstone, was appointed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) to take over global promotion of the Speedway Grand Prix series starting from 2026 following the departure of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports. Despite initial excitement over Mayfield’s appointment, concerns have grown within the speedway community about Coleman’s lack of first-hand experience in running large-scale motorsport championships—outside of previously organizing the Cardiff Speedway GP as a local promoter. Detractors have questioned whether Mayfield possesses the operational depth required to deliver a unified, global SGP product over multiple countries and venues. Links to Tech3 Road Racing Team Coleman’s parallel appointment as Team Principal of Tech3 MotoGP, alongside new team owner Günther Steiner, beginning in 2026, has intensified concerns within motorsport circles. The flamboyant Steiner, a former Formula 1 team principal, will become the new boss of the French team, while Coleman will take over the day-to-day running of the team, stretching him even further, as with running a MotoGP team and the Speedway Grand Prix series, there will be times when Coleman will be needed in two places, two circuits at once. How will these inevitable clashes in the racing calendar be managed? Poorly is the answer from some within the industry. While these moves signal his deepening presence in motorsport, commentators perceive it as a potential conflict of focus, particularly with Tech3’s restructuring under Steiner’s consortium, and some believe Coleman to be sorely out of his depth. Richard Coleman : Tech3 will not be disrupted. The HQ will remain based in the south of France, Nicolas Goyon will continue to serve as Technical Director, and Hervé Poncharal will ensure the transition, remaining involved during this delicate phase. The team takeover places Coleman in a major leadership role just as Mayfield is expected to reshape the FIM Speedway brand—raising doubts about whether he can effectively manage two world championship-scale operations at once. European Rugby League Connections Coleman’s history with European Rugby League (ERL) adds another layer to his multidomain career. Appointed in 2022 as an independent director, he was brought in to help expand ERL’s commercial reach. His background in sponsorship acquisition and sports marketing—having brokered deals across Formula 1, cycling, and football—initially bolstered ERL’s executive credentials, but people within these sports suggest that his broad network of concurrent roles demonstrates an inability to remain dedicated to specific sporting ventures. Summary In essence, Richard Coleman is stretched across several major sports entities—Mayfield Sports Events for FIM Speedway, Tech3 MotoGP as incoming team principal, and links to European Rugby League—each demanding significant time to be managed at a satisfactory level. Coleman’s experience in motorsport marketing is extensive, yet questions persist over whether he can effectively steer the FIM Speedway Grand Prix through its crucial transitional phase given his fragmented commitments and limited direct experience with running global rider-based series. Richard is a marketing man, not a guy that can run the day to day logistics of a motorsport series. There are some within the world of two wheeled motorsport who suspect that Coleman and his team, basically just his wife Anoushka, have bitten off more than they can chew, and that the FIM are starting to wonder if they need to put a contingency plan in place, which may even include a return to the pre SGP days of a series of qualifying rounds and a one off world final, especially as we are now in mid October 2025, with as yet no sign of the 2026 SGP Calendar on the horizon. Of course, the real issue is that the FIM were so short of Interest in taking over the SGP series from Warner Brothers Discovery that Mayfield took control of the SGP series by default. Only time will tell whether Mayfield can deliver a viable SGP series, but unfortunately, experience, knowledge and time are against them. https://www.paddock-gp.com/en/The-World-Endurance-and-Speedway-Championships-will-be-hosted-by-Claude-Michy-and-Richard-Coleman-from-2026/ https://www.paddock-gp.com/en/MotoGP-Steiner-offers-Tech3-and-will-rely-on-Coleman-who-has-made-his-assessment.-It-is-a-team-with-exemplary-functioning./ https://europeanrugbyleague.com/articles/2156/european-rugby-league-appoint-richard-co...?
