Ipswich Witches vs Leicester Lions 9th July
InTheDeepStuff replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Will Ryan Douglas be back for this one as that was a big off he had in Poland at the weekend? Can’t see Kyle Howarth being fit to ride either as still suffering with the re-occurrence of his ankle injury form his spill last week, Dickson will be hoping Douglas rides as if not it’ll be R/R for him and a non premiership contracted rider as guest for Howarth (not much depth left in Championship to choose from as per Ipswich having to use MPT) which will put Leicester in a weakened position than him being available or runnIng R/R. - Yesterday

I agree about Nicholls sadly - even his home form is a shadow of what it was in 2024 guesting for Doyle. As far a a replacement goes, Nicholls is still on a quite inflated rolling average, and Rew might just fit, I would like to see him back. Not sure about dropping Lawson - he is a solid rider everywhere but recently admitted he's a one-man band. Maybe organising some off track help for him is a better answer.

Leicester have a good chance here -
Never been a fan of Lawson … he isn’t well liked amongst the riders Ive heard as well and rubs promotions up the wrong way … im not one of these plastic fans who once a rider signs for you that you have to like … sure I want him to win races for us but I struggle to cheer him just something about his demeanour I’m not a fan of

I don't think the WiFi signal is great at The Coliseum either for these systems to work efficiently. The people on the gate (I drive in and park at stadium so pay in car) struggled early season to scan multiple tickets I had purchased on my phone so I always try to have the right amount of cash ready for those travelling in my car that day. It does tend to be much quicker this way and less stressful for the gate staff which is appreciated by them too.

Also televised/streamed meetings tend to run for a couple of hours do they not? A three hour broadcast with half an hour each end for build up/analysis? Last night finished just after half 9. Most meetings this year have been done by 9:15, any quicker than that and personally I'd feel short changed.

Only just read this. Are any West Ham team members from the mid/late 60’s still alive?

You know that you're getting old when ...

I certainly remember Antoni Woryna back in the 60’s. Yes, I am getting old, started watching speedway in 1960. -
Currently reading Andrew Edwards book,MCN Days, Speedway Nights. In his book he remembers being in the Millenium Stadium for a British GP in 1995. The stadium did not open till 1999.

I would love to come, Chris. However, I am unable to travel far these days. It is with regret I won't be able to attend. I do , however, send my very best wishes for the success of your endeavours.

Your argument fails as in the first sentence you mention old ladies fumbling for change, but cash is quicker than scanning a ticket. All it needs is online bookings being able to be added to Apple, Google and any other wallet available, so not reliant on data or WiFi signal. Though the scanner probably needs a data or WiFi signal. Also the fast moving cash only entrance gets held up by those fannying about for money and awaiting change.

Sheep in wolf’s clothing -
I thought he was our rider of the year in 2023 and continued his magnificent partnership with Max Fricke in 2024... I was pretty shocked when he decided to walk away at the end of that year... but as he's had more clubs than [INSERT NAME OF FAVOURITE GOLF PLAYER HERE]. It seems that he doesn't take his team Speedway as seriously as many of the fans do but he's by no means alone in that where riders are concerned.
