SGP New promotor from 2026
False dawn replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yes, I got a similar deal. Actually an early bird deal on a £20 ticket which cost me £18. I never understood the ticket pricing at Cardiff. 20K-30K fans paying a fairly modest GP ticket price (say £30-£40) would surely have made that meeting financially viable? We certainly didn't pay £20 for a ticket to go to the NSS did we? Yes I know all about the quality of the racing and I agree. In fact racing wise I think the Friday meeting this year is up there as one of the best GPs ever. I do worry about the future at the NSS. I can only see them getting one GP next year and to make that pay with all the costs involved could lead to tickets well over £100. Wait for the comments when that's announced. For me, the original plan of one GP in Cardiff and one at the NSS was perfect. A great day/weekend in Cardiff and a top meeting on one of the best circuits (the best?) in the world was something to savour. -
I know Rew is based over there for sure, both holders, Doyle, fricke, Douglas, Masters, Cook brothers, Kurtz, Picko, and some others are based in Britain I believe, or at least must work in Britain for visa purposes.

I don't know what you paid but my last ticket for Cardiff was £23... same as a league match! -
Not so sure about that, especially for the younger ones, aren't Rew and Lidsey based in Poland? I assume the likes of Masters with his family and maybe Douglas are UK based? A lot would depend on visa and family situations
-
No they have quite a strong balance sheet with a good amount of cash in the bank. They do however appear bankrupt of ideas on how to successfully grow the sport.

There's only Kent (In the NDT) who currently are not running in the Leagues above. Are you suggesting Teams go like Oxford and run more than one team (Belle Vue, King's Lynn & Leicester are the only current PL teams in the NDL/NDT, all others are already Championship)?

Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2

You definitely proved your superiority, Doyle's comment was a bit tongue in cheek and probably done to worry BV. who had riders that had an eye on individual glory. -
Belle Vue -V- Ipswich POSF leg 1

This was your last contribution on a Belle Vue thread, way back on September 6th. Is everything ok Geoff? Hope you’re well.. Did you think it was a “cracker” by the way, Geoff? -

There’s also MAYFIELD MOTOR SPORTS LIMITED formed back in 2017 which is still trading albeit a small company in terms of assets & profitability. If they were the promoters of the last two Cardiff GPs let’s hope they will change their approach of running an event on the cheap whilst charging highest price possible. In other words providing something of poor value. -
Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2
Steve Irving replied to blue witch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Totally disagree and as it turned out, the track wasn’t “rough” in the slightest. The weather was the only thing that made things tricky to begin with before it dried and sickened off. It would have made absolutely no sense to purposely rough up a track that they’ve comprehensively whooped Belle Vue on all year! The only thing could have done, was upset the home riders more and and make the result a bit of a lottery. Ipswich are far superior to Belle Vue this year, no “tricks” were needed or necessary. -
Or both of them? Or any two. Two leagues of seven teams. There is zero chance they will self destruct completely by having one league, with a lot of weekend clubs meaning none of the top boys realistically riding over here. Rumour is more TV money will be given to top flight clubs, so that will help two Championship clubs in moving up.

The only way Tai ends up at SGP events IMO will be to DJ 😆 -
If Harry and Mayfield could get some big sponsors into the sport and sort out some really good financial deals it could make a difference (big if though). If you are getting double the money from sponsors etc to be in the prem vs the champ then it would make teams think. Or you could then introduce promotion and relegation, which IMO would move the sport forward, money makes everyone change their mind. Attendance at Ekstraliga is average of what about 10,000 - 12,000 ish each match… costing about £10-£12 a ticket. You would need 5,000-6,000 to start packing out British stadiums at £24 a ticket which they are now to be equal, get TV and Sponsers and really bang in promotion, then and only then could you try to offer big money like they do in Poland and make riders choose Britain over Poland, it’s all about money, Aussies would chose Britain all day because they live here and would drop Poland, the problem is the whole set up with infrastructure etc I know, but getting a few to choose Britain over Poland could then make TV run Friday night and Sunday night which would work better for fans. It’s either that or wait until riders are scared to go to Poland due to Russia and Ukraine 😂 I don’t know what would come first haha

Maybe they will give Tai one as his last "throw of the dice " for him on the world stage to get closure at least at GP level ! -
I think your right the push will be to get a couple of teams probably Poole and Glasgow to move up to the premiership and a couple of teams who are racing in NDL to move up to the championship. I fear that this will dilute the championship and make it less attractive to the casual supporter.

Redcar were excellent i must say I thought Glasgow were lucky to win imo. Ace Pijper has really come on from last year not just at Redcar. Charles Wright looked classy and continued his best season form as usual when it matters. Flint, Nagel were box office, not sure what happened to Bomber in Heat One? 13 and 15 he was in his own postcode will require more of that up against Poole on Tuesday. Always a good night at Ashfield though!

And live on tv he passed Kemp on the inside without hitting his left foot with the dirt deflector like Fricke did to him in ht 1. Also Kyle did in the first running of ht 14 what Rowe did in the 2nd running, Kyle should have been out or Rowe should be back in for consistency. Both went wide and collected riders on the outside of them.

Great stuff from Redcar tonight - I did say not to underestimate them! Heats 14/15 were sublime. Nice to Ace scoring well, Jody's coming along nicely, and Tate had a fine win in his second ride. Glasgow didn't quite fully fire, and Redcar's team are hard to beat once ahead. No complaints, and it's still possible to win at Redcar in 2052 when the second leg finally comes round. It was a mistake to give Redcar choice of gates in heat one though - starting the meeting giving Charles Wright the inside gate really set the tone in the opening heats. We were constantly chasing and we made hard work of it. Still, it's a win. "Only" need a draw now. On to next Friday.
