Says much about the state of British Speedway when you don't know whether the CEO is still in post. A chap called Ivan Mauger once said speedway is a sport with professional riders managed by amateurs. For my two pennorth , Pghil Morris has been great for the Speedway Grand Prix, where he is giiven the authority to manage the show . In British league speedway... didn't really stand a chance .... most promoters aren't interested in change.

Obviously haven't seen the classic meeting from Northside today @lewy one of the best meetings with passing in every race heat 15 a classic

Always said that th metal I beams that protrude around the outer perimeter were a major issue. Yet to see a photo of anything resembling a safe speedway track emerging . Good hot dog stall . Without those beams, a riding test of the track would have been possible as Lakeside ran for many seasons with white sticks marking the outer boudary of the track. Picked up a copy of Speedway Star from Sainsburys this week . Occasionally grab a copy when I see something of note , and the reopening of the Brafield Foxes speedway gained my interest. Interested to see that he track operated as a training facilty . With so little time before the opening night, I beams still to be cut off and no air fence yet delivered, you can see a delay occurring.

Canāt help but feel the track needed to have been watered more. There was just nothing round the outside on the back straight. Unfortunately the BSN meetings screened at Plymouth in recent times have been plagued with delays for one reason or another. `Thereās no doubt improvements are being made but itās just not delivered yet for the armchair fan.

Iām pretty sure that Redcar are only using Mudgway because they need a heat leader to remain competitive. Itās not really through choice, but through necessity. -
How do they 'nominate' or 'select' the riders for track testing on Tuesday? Do they pull names out of a hat or may pin the tail on the donkey. More importantly what happens if the said 4 riders say the track is crap?

You also don't need a pair of training shoes to run a marathon but it certainly helps!

Magazine programme interesting tonight, MJJ on panel talking about the new blitz and GM carburettors, he says he using new blixt carbs and although didnt actually say it when asked about problems with the GM carbs he said itās not for him to say and he isnāt interested in what every other rider uses, so despite GM telling the world their revolver carb is the best invention ever is everything no rosey with their carb ?

Great post, anyone who judges a speedway match by the number of passes is clearly deluded.

So pleased a decent crowd turned up to see that! Now that is proper Speedway! Great racing from both sides, whether Berwick fans admit it or not itās irrelevant that was what we all go to see. Weāre lucky to have that as our home track. Well done the Comets and thanks to the guests, the Comets won and Speedway won today.
