  1. Past hour
  2. Don’t think Guy Nicholls needs any tractors he has plenty of his own
  3. Given the current state of speedway if he's as shrewd as he seems he may well ask the other promoters to pay to him a sub to keep the club running if they still want a top league. As others have said these days what are you buying, not the riders, maybe a tractor, air fence and shale, all second hand probably 5-10k for the lot i reckon. Whoever takes it on is walking into an inferno currently raging in British speedway with the risk if it flops you are going to have to underwrite all the losses.
  4. My late night thoughts of 2026 Comets: Jonas Jeppesen Jacob Hook Antti Vuolas Jye Etheridge Troy Bachelor Vinnie Foord Another 3pointer This would probably be around the 40point mark... Although who knows what the rules for 2026 are!
  5. And I guarantee he wouldn't do it, if it doesn't at least break even. We will hopefully know in the next few weeks, so fingers crossed it's positive news for the club...
  6. TruPlant pulled out of Sheffield what feels like a long time before Louis put Ipswich up for sale. It would seem strange then that Chris Louis announces that he is pulling out, and in such a way that questions the future is the Witches, if he is selling it to the main sponsor of the Witches. Anyway, if there is a potential buyer for Ipswich then lots hope it happens as the sport needs all the well supported clubs it can get.
  7. You'd think that there'd be no better time with the worth of the stock being at an all time low.
  8. No idea if this has any truth / mileage or not but it would be interesting to see a proper sound business man operate a top tier club - you can't deny Tru7 are a proper operation.
  9. Let's hope he is approved as a BSPL promoter and assuming he is, I wonder what level he would want Ipswich to compete at?
  10. Today
  11. Well this would be an interesting time for the fans to come good and buy the club 😉 In another sport - AFC Wimbledon announced recently that a fan owned model isn't sustainable in football at the level they operate at, I rather suspect it wouldn't in top tier speedway speedway either!
  12. Every club is run by custodians of the sport and along that journey some will fall by the wayside for one reason or another. It is key for the future of the sport that the custodians are fit, willing and able to carry the concept forward but in reality until it has a concrete business plan to see out the next five to ten years why would any one invest . It is up to the promoters, riders and current supporters to sell the sport, no one else is going to do it and without a coordinated approach it is on borrowed time.
  13. The valuation will also be effected by the strength of the sport as a whole and the number of clubs and divisions running in it. Look at the current F1 teams worth billions when just a few years ago they were about as attractive as Speedway clubs.
  14. Fair play if he can afford to buy Poland just by pulling his sponsorship of Sheffield.
  15. Interesting news coming out of Poland! They are reporting high potential of Guy Nicholls taking over and that’s the reason behind him pulling out of sponsoring Sheffield.
  16. That's the problem - eveytime Chris tried to put a spade in the ground someone else would kick it away and refill the hole....
  17. NL / NT doubling up hasn't caused any of these issues. Last year development league riders only got 10 matches, which can't be good for their development. This year that was increased to 18 matches for riders on both competitions. Also as the development leagues always take second fiddle when there are fixture clashes, these matches don't cause any issues to Champ clubs fixtures. If a rider rode for Buxton or Kent in both NL & NT would you even consider that doubling up? Explaining this year that Sonny Springer rode for Leicester in two development competitions, would be the easiest explanation of a rider racing in more than one competition imo.
  18. I, personally, cannot wait for one league... Loads of new tracks to visit, several weekends away... My concern is we end up with two leagues of Mickey Mouse, contrived, same old/same old, bollox.. Like we have had for 20 Years and more... What an opportunity for the sport to reset itself, relaunch itself, and make a UK Speedway Brand...
  19. What Chris has single handedly done at the moment is seemingly closed his own club down, with no "assurance" that they'll be running next season.
  20. The value of any club is questionable and depends who owns the track and stadia. To categorise what may be for sale, firstly you may have the assignment of the lease where a club rents the track but the landlord is unlikely to agree where the terms of which do not match the current lessee’s obligations. if you overcome the assignment issue then a sale in terms of assetS will be determined by a fair valuation of what is on the balance This will include the security deposit paid to the BSP, and a few other fixed assets and I suspect that rider contracts are not binding on transfer of the business ownership and the renewal thereof will be based on a number of factors. After the foregoing it is reality what is left in terms of fixed assets such as graders, air fence, track prep machinery and anything which one could consider as a fixed asset. Who really knows the value of a club/team/track but is a lot less that most sane people are willing to pay and notwithstanding the good will based partly on the supporters etc, no one would pay more than a £1.00. It is not a sound business proposition as it stands as the return on equity is nearly non existent. Maybe ideal for profitable corporations as an offsetting tax opportunity exercise but basically you would need to be as mad as Mar h hare to put money into a sport the way speedway is currently run
  21. I suspect there are very few clubs these days that are worth much at all. A would be investor will usually need deep pockets as many have found out over the years.
  22. Belle Vue, Leicester and Kings Lynn fans will of course be mad. Chris has single handedly stopped the Prem from running next year clearly and you three teams will have no option but to drop down or sell 🤦🏼 , I don’t expect any good words from anyone apart from Ipswich fans!
  23. I would if the play off finalists weren't set in stone by the end of March...... Your promoter has thrown his toys right out of the pram... I had huge respect for him but he has shown he is as inept as the rest of them, when I had high hopes for him to lead the sport... Cometh the hour. Cometh the man... He has ran off... Which. Is a huge shame for the sport, given that Chris was genuinely one of the few who could see the potential of it, if it could be moved into the 21st Century...
