  1. Past hour
  2. I’m not sure why Kings Lynn are being ignored in the predictions. They’ve got the top rider from last year plus Bomber, the fast Cook and Kvech, potentially the most exciting RS in the league and undoubtedly the best team manager. Buster seems to be a bit low key these days but there’s no doubt he runs a very successful business with everything that goes on at his track.
  3. yes probably another team to win the league then close down. ?
  4. Today
  5. I was only on loan from stoke,,I did 18 meetings for them and went back to stoke in 98, as much as I enjoyed my time there, met some fantastic fans and picked up a sponsor that sponsored me for the next 20 years I can’t remember the circumstances behind the closure
  6. I don't know how the riders were treated but the long suffering Speedway fan was strung along and lied to, I remember the press releases at the time saying a new stadium was going to be built and all the plans were in place and the i's just needed dotting and the t's crossing. There does seem to be a long running theme running through Speedway 🤔
  7. Yesterday
  8. Nobody did. Sadly, the stock car promoter was ready for retirement so allegedly gave up his remaining lease for a sweetener. Had he held out on his further year, both speedway and greyhounds could have also continued in 1998 and the administrators would have been forced to advertise it for sale as a 'going concern'. As a stock car fan I will never forgive him for this.
  9. Dean, I take it you had no idea it would go belly up at the end of the season?
  10. New Cross Rangers 1963 West Ham Bombers 1972
  11. Yes I rode for long Eaton that year and we definitely finished the season
  12. Thanks for that - saves us all a lot of time and money See you in 2027
  13. Yes correct, the stadium was sold in early 1998 by receivers Grant Thornton and the team was forced to vacate.
  14. Well let's face it there all EX diamonds now as the club is sadly gone & some of the riders who have been asked are not to sure about doing it sadly.. But at least the Redcar promotion are doing there bit to keep the diamonds name alive
  15. I'm pretty sure Long Eaton didn't close mid season
  16. Leicester Hounds/Leicester Stadium (1931 & 1937): Folded mid-season in 1931, with further issues in 1937. Liverpool Merseysiders/Chads (1937 & 1953): Withdrew mid-season in 1937; record expunged. Also closed in 1953. Ashfield Giants (1952): Closed during the 1952 season. Cradley Heath Heathens (1953): Disbanded mid-season in 1953 following the withdrawal of the promoter. Hackney Hawks (1983): Folded mid-season in 1983. Long Eaton Invaders (1997): Closed during the 1997 season. Trelawny Pitbulls (2003): Folded mid-season in 2003. Oxford Cheetahs (2007): Folded mid-season in 2007. Mildenhall Fen Tigers (2010): Experienced a mid-season closure in 2010. From Wikipedia, any takers in the Den?
  17. Brave, foolish or filthy, stinking rich 😁
  18. That's my whole point Iain which some seem to miss. Only the brave invest in something with a long record of failure.
  19. Wimbledon 1991? Rye House 2018? Hackney 1991? Newcastle 2022?
  20. ............. and Sunderland 'Saints' in 1964. 🤬 .................. or earlier as happened to Sunderland 'Stars' in 1974. 🤬
  21. What if they hemorrhage money and Jack it mid season. Anyone remember Skegness?
  22. About 6 weeks AC . AB working elsewhere next working week.
  23. Couple of meetings featuring sides representing Rye House there that have piqued my interest. Will try get to one or both if my schedule allows. Wish everyone involved nothing but success.
  24. Those were the days eh . Proper racers. They were pals too apparently.
