  1. Past hour
  2. Bewley had only been riding Speedway 6 months at that point. 😂
  3. Bitterly disappointed to hear about Oxford’s situation. The Cheetahs return to racing represented a glimmer hope in an otherwise abysmal future for clubs of the past, such as Coventry, Swindon and Peterborough. It’s awful how exposed British speedway is. If it isn’t losing riders to challenge matches to Poland, it’s losing the ability to host meetings due to a reliance on other parties. We desperately, desperately need some sort of rejuvenation, very much like darts went through.
  4. First time I've been to home meeting for a couple of seasons, not sure on the new parade if the riders are going to stop and wave to fans at one end of grandstand then make sure they stop at the other end as well instead of just riding straight past! Cooper looked class tonight not great opposition i know but still looked good.
  5. Close. A paid maximum for young Rushen is remarkable. I remember seeing Dan Bewley riding for Edinburgh at that age and he looked more suited to second-half racing.
  6. https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/23853/ipswich-kings-lynn-premiership-2026 Looking at this it’s difficult to see where his points are going to come from. Possibly heats 7 and 14 against Bangs? Depending on how well (or not) Bangs adapts to the track.
  7. A star was born tonight. Cooper Rushen take a bow. Got to be brave to wear tassles. If you can’t live up to the hype the egg on the youngsters face would be bad. But he looks the real deal. Fast gating and good passing ability. A young Mark Loram? Possibly. But there’s a caveat of Scunthorpe being absolutely woeful. I said in the first post it could be Pickering v Poole and so it proved. He was excellent by the way. Mountain was his only backup with second places. The rest were as expected out of their depth. Palm-Toft didn’t want to know, unsurprisingly considering the smash he had here a few seasons ago. Lambert couldn’t live with the Poole boys. Newman again doing very well. Battling hard all night. Bowes should have had a max but messed up his team riding in his first race and slid off. Cairns seems to be dragging his bike around the track and looks stiff on a bike. Needs to relax more. We know the ability is there. Friday is obviously now a formality. Scunthorpe looked like wooden spooner candidates before the season and tonight confirmed it.

  9. I thought Harrison would be the only rider kept from 2025 - and, at the same time, thought he’d do better to get away from the comfort of the EWR. But having stayed, I hoped he would kick on but he’s started the season slowly. Perhaps he’ll improve over the season? But, will any of the others?
  10. Cooper with a great performance. This is just the start.
  11. They would be better off taking a chance on couple of untried overseas riders like Worky have over the last couple of years might unearth a gem, just think Rob operates on an uber tight budget but this team is going to need surgery fast if he doesn't want the home crowds falling off a cliff.
  12. Exactly this, away from Scunthorpe that team is Pickering and 5 reserves. Don’t know what Palm Toft is.
  13. I dear say we will be pushing up the daisies before anything happens ian
  14. Today
  15. Really concerning you think they are only one rider away from competing with anyone. They’re another 3/4 away from competing with half the league more like.
  16. Mmm, pretty much. Just fancied watching some speedway but obviously chose the wrong match. Feel sorry for the Scunthorpe fans with this team.
  17. That is the sad thing about the sport in GB it’s basically living from season to season nowadays. Know one with money will be throwing at Speedway without seeing long term future for their investment .IMO Supporter Clubs are keeping a few Clubs afloat. The riders are the ones laughing to the Bank.IMO
  18. Any business needs a vision, and a plan to deliver that vision... UK Speedway, basically, runs season to season with no one knowing who will run the next year, or which league some teams may decide to compete in, or what the team strengths there will be, or what competitions will take place, or what formats these competitions will follow.. You cannot keep "hoping for the best", by living season to season, and doing the same old thing that you always do that prevents you from ever having any vision, never mind a plan to deliver that vision... Millions and Millions of pounds of TV money has gone up in smoke over two and a half decades... Money which seemed to have bailed out a fair few issues which never got resolved... That money isn't there any more....
