  1. Past hour
  2. Don't forget in line with the general speedway trend there's probably only 40 of us knocking around this forum these days.
  3. As far as I’m aware, he had no other job outside of speedway? So unless he made enough money out of his riding career to never work again (obviously not), then he simply MUST be earning a living out of Ipswich Speedway. Just like his Father John did before him. Id also bet that the 5k+ attendance at 24? Quid a pop (no season ticket admission remember) for the play off final has nicely paid for his little Holibobs to the other side of the world!
  4. This is the problem clubs are essentially worthless you are being asked to buy into a dying business model so the only likely buyers will be long term fans, it used to be that when a club was in trouble their would be several interested parties but with speedways ageing demographic a lot of the wealthy fans are now pushing up the daisies leaving an ever shrinking pool to possibly be the latest saviour of the club/s.
  5. And as expected Kye Thomson back for 2026, if he carries on how he finished 2025 then should put at least a point on that average.
  6. Sadly you could say that about British Speedway for the past several years .... "always going to be fixed next season". Maybe this AGM in January 2026 really is "THE MOST IMPORTANT IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT" to quote the regular old chestnut trotted out in the Speedway satr to try and sell a few more copies. Dont think it is unfair to say the "one big league" has been suggested for a few seasons now - but what did the clever boys in charge do .... they started "doubling up" "doubling down" under some misguided belief that it would help riders progression. It has just developed into a money earning stunt for the mediocre riders and separated the 2 leagues further apart , making it nigh on impossible for teams to move up or down ... with so many doubling up riders. Sooperstars carried on regardless, and rabbits enjoyed the "rising star" charade. This also makes amalgamation nigh on impossible with the loss of sooperstars plus the loss of many doubling up riders who might just retire with only one teams income (albeit more meetings per season.) None of which solves the minor issue of getting MORE people through the turnstiles, something that has been continually overlooked !!
  7. I’m just saying why would the Championship reject Premiership Teams if it was on Championship Terms. As @Phil the Ace hinted that the Championship didn’t want them. The Sport is a shambles, obviously Sheffield and Ipswich situation made it even worse. Why did Louis throw in the towel.( what was the REAL reason). Not a word to the Ipswich supporters on the subject is pretty poor all round.Sheffield is just as bad trying to play call my bluff with the sport.
  8. Good luck to Jack never seems to get a good run in a team , always tries his best for whatever club he rides for
  9. The championship clubs closed that door before any discussion even took place. CL's proposal one league with 6 man teams for 2026 should at least have been explored, but once again, self interest prevailed...
  10. So you're saying they wouldve been happy if it was best for them, even if it wasn't for others and potentially not the best for the sport overall....
  11. Today
  12. Shows the difference between Facebook supporters and the ones on here, still each to their own.
  13. Great to Jack Smith with a team spot , this year will be a great year for him .
  14. Berwick could sign a 4.00 newcomer as their final rider, any ideas who? They'd start at reserve alongside Jack Smith.
  15. Think the Championsip would have accepted Premiership on their Terms.( why wouldn’t they)
  16. I am with you midland red. BSPL have said " at least 5 teams" Trobuble with arithmetic ?
  17. It's all about just getting through this year. All clubs taking a year away from racing was not an option because it's never just one year away is it. Things would have been easier if championship would have accepted the prem teams but they didn't want us. For the first time they actually reached the cross roads and they now need to make that decision for 2027. Go left or go right.
  18. Never could I defend the play offs nor a division where teams meet 5 home 5 away.
  19. Starting in March the play offs would be in June. Clubs don’t run weekly speedway. It’s more like fortnightly meetings meaning the same club would be back in eight weeks time following its previous visit.
  20. Every time our sport takes a step back, that becomes the new normal from which to work backwards from. Rarely if ever does it step back, regroup and move forward. It just moves further back.
  21. More notice period for teams moving up/down. Early knowledge of league structures to negate riders looking elsewhere for their income. Teams and meeting formats to suit the rider pool available. Competitions outside of the current league set up. There’s many operational knock ons associated with above and that’s just stuff off the top of my head right now.
  22. Anyone defending 3 home 3 away with the play offs is part of the problem. It's a shambles and I shall not spend a penny on it.
  23. Wouldn't necessarily if it was in three seperate competitions, the fixtures would be much closer than that. Personally I go to see my team race, not particularly fussed who its against although of course a league of five or six is far from ideal. Two leagues of eight has been mentioned for 2027 and that would be a far better situation.
  24. But if said persons missed 4 meetings £25 each 2 people so £200 lost, multiply that by saying 50 couples that a potential loss of £10k that's on top of normal losses for each meeting. Then potential sponsors won't come on board due to lack of TV. Sorry to say this but speedway is more fooked than usual
