I watched the Aussie meetings on bsn and I think Reid will do okay, he can gate, and is a racer, may need to calm himself a bit though. Will be an interesting watch. Disappointed that Jacob Hook does not have a place. We really need to stop losing riders that increase their average due to the team limits, it's always the 5 pointers that lose out.
-
I can see us taking a hiding on the road, home form should be pretty solid though
-
It looks like we will have an RS that can offer something this season (the No.7 position cost us the league last year) but losing the league’s best rider makes the team weaker over all. Can’t see any team giving the Lions a hiding, but when scores are close they will come up short in the all important heats 13 & 15.
-
Any team would welcome him as a great all rounder. In the same bracket as Jaimon and Doyle who have similar home, away and overall averages. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2025-rider-statistics/

I’d be surprised if it’s not picko back at Sheffield tbh, etheridge isn’t exactly a huge trump card on a 3 point average and there’s a good few riders in the 6-7 point average range still unattached who would allow a stronger no.6 would seem a strange strategy to me run with a 3 point number 6 to just allow enough for picko to fit and then not use him - unless there’s a similar average rider available who would come a bit cheaper that they think can outperform him? But I can’t see who that would be? Also wasn’t he quoted in the speedway star earlier this winter as saying Scunthorpe are aware that if it ends up being one big league he’d be pulling out and riding for Sheffield?

Blimey the lad isn't even in the country and he's being criticised, give him a break. Many years ago there was a couple of young lads from New Zealand who spent a lot of time hitting the deck or the fence, remember some other riders wanted them banned. Briggs and Mauger were their names, i often wonder how their careers panned out.

Thank you.

Sorry I must of misinterpreted the declarations. Maybe rolling figures are to blame. Following his returning assessed average he went 7.71, 7.79 before finishing on 8.05 which falsely shows an increase over the season.
-
I'm not sure tbh. If riders are allowed to do more than 3 Leagues then Becker would be one of the first riders on the Ipswich team sheet if I was picking the side.
-
Not sure if Rew will be back unless the new owners don't mind paying over the odds for him, or he's lowered his demands compared to what he wanted last season, which ended up pricing himself out of a ride at Ipswich.
-
Which league did Becker not do last year? I know he definitely done Denmark and Poland, did he miss Sweden?
-
But that deal was already done. Maybe the last rider is too I don’t know. You also have to look at value for money. Jack may be expensive, but they may feel he’s the one rider worth pushing the boat out for. If Pickering is after similar money (and I’m not saying he is), then maybe they feel that isn’t value for money as he’s not in that class of rider. Doyle was very expensive at Ipswich, someone mentioned earlier that Pickering was asking for similar to what Doyle was getting. None of us really know the finer points, but there plenty of people who claim Pickering is demanding big money so there’s probably an element of truth in that.
-
Lidsey, Iversen, King, Klindt, Riss, Zagar, Wright and Tungate. Although I suspect one of the 6 GSA Riders will be at Ipswich as Becker is already doing 3 Leagues.
-
Assuming Pickering and Kurtz are in at Sheffield at Belle Vue, neither Brennan or Lawson has a ride in the Premiership. You'd have to think they’ll almost certainly be Ipswich bound unless the sixth club materialises. If they are, you also have to wonder what kind of team the sixth club could realistically put together. There just isn’t enough riders of the calibre needed to have a bigger league as much as everyone would like it. Lawson Rew Musielak Becker Brennan Gusts/3 pointer Edwards If Ipswich went with something like that, who is left for Northampton/a.n.other?
-
If they want cheaper best to get rid of Jack.
-
Dad's Army was the Covid season as well when the top riders stayed away, Bewley, Kurtz and Jack Holder participated with Bewley & Holder finishing 1 & 2 in the averages but they weren't the riders then that they are now. I'm inclined to agree that you generally don't win anything without a number one, I hope I'm proved wrong... but can't see it personally.
-
Maybe it won’t be Pickering? If he’s demanding the big bucks that some are suggesting, maybe after yesterday’s news they may now go for a cheaper rider. TBF, there’s a few options still there that would in all likelihood be cheaper.

Kildemand's CHAMP GSA dropped riding as a No.5.
-
Definitely not a one track rider, rides well home and away, any team would welcome him. He is not a gp rider standard and his average shows that but an exciting rider who never gives up and worth a place in any team.
-
That’s because the BSPL announced Ipswich were running and not Chris Louis who apparently was rightly furious
-
No he’s not quite on the level of Kurtz, Holder, Bewley Fricke but he isn’t far behind. He’s an exciting rider to watch and anyone prem team would have him
-
Not having a real number one will always sting a team in the top flight. besides Peterborough’s dads army side I can’t remember another side solidly packed doing well.
