Seems like Nawrocki tried every track/club to stage his Diamond thingy. Belgian club Heusden-Zolder was also asked lol.

Rzeszow owe money right,left and centre - Porsing is owed 50,000zl and the Diamond cup fiasco owes money as well.

Suprise suprise !!!!! NKI has given an interview where he states he is owed money for 2 of the 3 rounds- he has a diamond but has not been able to get it confirmed how much it is worth.

According to Ireneusz Nawrocki (the weird dude responsible for Speedway Diamond Cup) Chris Holder was interested in riding in Rzeszow and he even sent his offer, but Rzeszow wasn't interested I wouldn't believe him though.

apparently Nawrocki bought the diamond for 540k zlotys so circa £110k... local businessman in this case, not politician, but i agree, it's just a matter of time before it all goes ** up

Apparently the winner of this competition gets a diamond worth ***?zlotys. Any bets on the chances of that actually happening? EDIT: Didn't this competition which was scheduled to be over five rounds only go to two? An example of local politician jumping on the speedway bandwagon in Poland and coming unstuck?

P’ss off then! Cant find my post from spring where I basically laughed off Nowackis plans to a. Rescue Rzeszow, b. Restart Swietolowiche, c. Build a spa in croatia and d. Start diamond league. I said it was all too much. But he did try. Only d as a definate failureso far. No idea on b or c but Rzeszow has been short on dosh for months.

Round 4 is in doubt because the city of Rzeszow are not prepared to stump up any cash to support the round there- and why should they support such a " Mickey mouse" event

Diamond league, two clubs back up and a multiple hotel complex on the coast of Croatia. Wheres a hole I could crawl to as Im a waste of space compared...

You will find that his proposed "Diamond League" is not intended to be a league for teams, but a tournament series for individual riders, something like a mini Grand Prix series for a selection of hand-picked riders. Something totally unneeded and unwanted, if You ask my opinion, with the riders already complaining about having to too many meetings. But of course if the prize money is good, and the winner gets to win the Diamond prize, the riders will be happy to participate in his meetings. I'd rather see his other ideas realized. That's him helping to resurrect the former speedway club Slask Siwetochlowice, and perhaps start a completely brand new speedway from scratch in his home town of Bielska-Bialej - that would be good.

I saw an earlier interview and thought there was all the right reasons mentioned to sign Hancock, but would it work in speedway?? Have to say that the Diamond league bit is a bit worrying...

Some local authorities in Poland see speedway as a good means of publicising and raising the profile of their towns. Who outside of the sports hardcore would ever have known the names Gorzow and Leszno before they were plastered on the race jackets of SGP riders and shown on TV screens all over the world? So what's new about that? It happens over here and in other sports too. I can think of a major athletics club in Birmingham, not half a mile away from the speedway stadium, who are supported to the hilt by the Council with the use of a prestige stadium and training facilities, all because the same stadium is used for international "Diamond League" athletics meets and other high profile athletics championships that put the name of Birmingham on the sporting map. The real income though is from advertising and sponsorship. And from quality companies that pay premium prices too. You only have to see the advertising hoardings that are on the centre greens, and the companies that they are from. Kings Lynn might have an advertising board from Arthur Daly's backstreet electrical shop on it's centre green, but in Poland it's their equivilent of Powergen, E-On, and British Gas etc who advertises. and they pay what you'd expect a national company to pay, to do so. It's the virtuous circle over there. A quality product, attracting lots of people to watch which attracts advertisers and sponsors to provide backing, (because they have the audeince to market to) The backing is serious money which can be spent on sustaining and improving the product, And so it goes round.
