It's about time people got to know what it's like organising a Team, it's not just about picking top names, you have got to make sure those riders will gel together as a Team.

Do you ? not in this format you don't ...from what i could see on monday is that Harris and Nicholls still never looked liked they were getting on .....ive seen more gel on Kojak head .

The reason we did better this year is that Lyon pick his best side rather last years load of rubbish .

Things don't always just fall into position, not everybody has the knack of putting a Team together, who can work together, Rob Lyon has the ability to get a collection of riders to work as a Team and all pull together, I think that was shown Monday night.

I wish them all the best for Saturday

Another Top Post!

Can I also ask why people that are British dont support the Brits?

I know its a free country and all that...yawn...but why support another nation? They'd soon be moaning if Britian didn't put a team together for this event...!

Regardless of what happens in the final pride in the lions(scuse the pun)has been restored and for the first time in years the other teams will not look at team GB as a pushover. It may not be massive progress but as it said in Bombers bit in the proggie Rob got the riders all together at the start of the year and explained his 3,5 and 10 year plans, how refreshing it is to see a team GB boss with vision for british speedways future.Lets hope he gets the backing he deserves from those in office at speedway HQ although I fear not as they seem to be too preoccupied with both fiddling team averages and while Rome burns around them :sad:

SCB, Shazzy, wouldn't you guys be better off having this slanging match on MSn.

Airing your personal greivances on here is spoiling what was fantastic evening.

You're right Colin and everyone else I apologise for bringing this to the forum ..... I'll save it for my visit to Coventry icon_smile_approve.gif

The reason we did better this year is that Lyon pick his best side rather last years load of rubbish .

Top Post. Poor selections cost Rob Lyon dear last year, luckily he was given another chance to select his best riders. For the record, Nicholls wasn't selected last year and some mug who I chose to ignore on here claims he was out of form. Compared to himself? Yes. Compared to his alternative selections - Kennett, King, Woffinden, Bridger? NO! Check the averages from July 13th 2009!

Still I congratulate Rob Lyon for turning it around (like I have done in my previous two posts). Shame that those Rob Lyon tinted glasses cannot see he remains less than perfect by analysing ONE meeting in isolation. Good analysis and critical assessment from the Lyon lovers..

Credit to the British team for beating their opponents, but their opponents were uniformly weak.

Yet many people still had the Aussies down as favourites and were berating the choice of track

People can't have it both ways.

I have been a critic of Rob Lyon from the outset and remain highly sceptical. I don't think he has done anything different to what any supporter would have done in picking this years team.

I think he should have gone the same way as Jim Lynch last year after making an appalling team selection. An off form Nicholls was better than the guys he chose to include. I knew that, we all knew that. But Lyon didn't for some unfathomable reason.

However he is still the manager of Team GB and I want success for Team GB, so I don't want him to fail. I want to see Team GB on the podium on Saturday night. If that can be acheived at least it will show there is some bulldog spirit in the camp, even if we all know it is far from harmonious amongst the riders themselves.

Come 4th and his job should be under scrutiny. Third and it's safe. Second and a very well done, first and I will personally go and find him and apologise to his face for doubting and underestimating his ability for the job.

I thought the Australians would win, but they didn't. They didn't ride well and got exactly what they deserved out of the meeting. I certainly did not question the choice of track, remembering all to well Coventry 2008 and the so-called "track specialists" team of Lynch. In view of the previous, I don't believe I'm seeking to have it both ways. The King's Lynn round was weak, containing only two GP-winners in Harris and Holder, whereas the Gorzow round contained maybe five. In all honesty, there only looks to be one really strong team in this year's SWC and that is Poland.

Yet fourth under Middlo was okay and nothing to do with Middlo.

Not unfathomable at all, the youngsters were picked for the good of the future. A plan which going by the averages of Kennett, Bridger and to a lesser extent King appears to have failed badly.

Spot on . Hardly Lyon's fault that the form of Britain's bright young things has went back the way alarmingly this season .

It's ok Shaz  it made Dallas,DieNasty,Corrie etc look like a women's institute outing to the Cotswalds :D Will you be wearing the Sky Helmetcam for your visit to Coventry? Would love to see you "winding it all on" to quote Nigel Pearson :P

p.s anybody who did genuinely cheer when Rory Sclein fell off needs a boot right up their hard drive,no matter whether it's a crucial point in the meeting or whatever..frickin' sickos-some of the people on this forum who have tried to qualify their cheering of a crash just shows them up for what they are....... <removed, more personal abuse and trolling> :D Apologies for my alleged profanities, but the cheering of fallen riders really gets to me

Shazzy, just tell us the date and you'll double the Cov crowd. ;) It'll be more interesting than the track action.

All the best

Rob
