mikebaker 200 Posted December 29, 2012 As Somerset wanted to sign Brady Kurtz, but as he was refused as he does not turn 17 until September. Max Fricke is also only 16, and does not have British Paternity, so how will he be granted a visa.
SCOTLAND1314 121 Posted December 29, 2012 Delighted with this news, how much are we left with does anybody know ? I think we have 3.21 left (but not 100% sure). The promotion have turned a very negative situation (nearly going out the game) into a very positive team selection. IMO they've pieced together what looks like the best team to wear the Blue & Gold. Magnificent.

Plus with the backing of the BSPA a visa can be got as Glasgow did for O'Malley last year. Edited December 29, 2012 by Dekker

Dekker 239 Posted December 29, 2012 (edited) Not that simple -- Kurtz family have patriality! wasnt referring to kurtz jnr but maybe it maybe something like having ridden for oz in u16 WC blew his patriality? Edited December 29, 2012 by Dekker
JCookie 753 Posted December 29, 2012 Does Fricke even need patriality to get a reduced average? If he is coming in on 5 then why does his age matter?
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,710 Posted December 29, 2012 Does Fricke even need patriality to get a reduced average? If he is coming in on 5 then why does his age matter? Its not about his starting average more about whether he meets the criteria for a visa at all.
Gazc 7,140 Posted December 29, 2012 Does Fricke even need patriality to get a reduced average? If he is coming in on 5 then why does his age matter? Think it will be more to do with them meeting the requirements i can see both Glasgow & Edinburgh struggling to receive permission after last seasons debacle with O Malley and possibly Douglas at Scunthorpe also think it will be far more difficult for these young Aussies to gain entry this year as the vetting will be far more stringent than previous year's. Horwood and Fricke may not even get as far as the Embassy this year which could well leave both clubs looking for alternatives.

Fricke & Douglas have a decent rep in U16 as does Brady Kurtz, they should find it easier in theory than some of the others like Horwood, although his 4th place in Kurri Kurri won't hurt . Rubbish - first of all it is Patriality not Paternity, and in Kurtz case this was being referred to in order to obtain a 3pt starting average to fit into the Somerset team for 2013. Fricke, Horwood, Koppe, and Douglas are coming in on 5.00, so Patriality does not apply.
XTC38L 79 Posted December 30, 2012 Douglas, Fricke and horwood all should be eligible for a gbe as they all have qualified for the Australian U21 champs
edmon 169 Posted December 30, 2012 Douglas, Fricke and horwood all should be eligible for a gbe as they all have qualified for the Australian U21 champs Where does this come from? The GBE states on the BSPA site "Any Speedway promotion wishing to employ an individual rider to participate in their team will be required to guarantee that, for the previous season, the rider for whom the application is made has fulfilled one of the following criteria. a) Australia/ New Zealand/ U.S.A. Finished in the first four in the state Championships" No other criteria there! Maybe someone from the BSPA would like to clarify situation - suspect the answer will be no they would not.
