Sounds Like Bad News For West Row

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there was something on the News about this a couple of years ago. There HAD been complaints from people about Bell Ringing in a Village in the South somewhere - I can't remember the exact details though.

Perhaps it's a church, near Mildenhall Stadium?

So it isn't only Speedway that suffers from Nimbys - sadly they are all over the place.

Finally - this is well worth a read to demonstrate how Christian Churches are coming under pressure in a 'Christian' Country:

All of this is totally wrong - as is folk moving next to a Speedway Track and then moaning about it.

The silencing of the church bells is for them to stop between 11 pm and 7 am, which is sort of fair. However, due to fact they are activated automatically, they can't be switched off between that time. Therefore, it is really a technical issue. The other complaint about the church worshippers playing loud music during sermons is not necessarily the guy being difficult because he is a Muslim, it might be flipping loud! All they need to do is keep the noise down a bit.

What is interesting, is I think there is a missing part to the Mildenhall story. I wonder if the supreme court are not expecting the track to stop it's activities, but to reduce them. Which may not suit Mr Coventry if he needs to run all the activities to make money. Just being devils advocate.

Indeed it is, which is why in certain inner city areas you won't hear church bells ringing on Sunday mornings any more, due to non-Christians moving into the area and succeeding with their objections about the noise.

Why should speedway be any different?

With respect, that sounds like a myth to me rather than fact. Probably put about by UKIP!

The church bells ring in Penge, south London, every Sunday morning at both RC and CoE churches. And this despite there being a Mosque with a quarter-mile of both of them!

If that became the case, I think in view of Mr Coventry's own motoir sport links what that will be.

Technically we are. We have a Queen who leads the Church of England.

We're not a Christian country.

We are recognised Christian country because the Queen represents the leadership of the faith in the UK (and probably the Commonwealth).

I suggest that one Sunday morning you go to somewhere like Handsworth, Aston, or even Sparkhill (Capital of "British Pakistan", according to Citizen Khan lol) and see if you hear any church bells ringing. Gather your own evidence rather than casting aspersions on others.

I don't know the ins ad outs of everything, but the couple involved are saying noise was going on at the stadium until 3am, and they tried to solve it amicably but couldn't.

So, if that is how it was then maybe you have to have some sympathy with them as there may be more to this than just speedway noise.

so what. maybe once a week for the noise was coming from the banger racers packing up for ffs. they are really pissing off a lot of people and I doubt anybody apart from money grabbing solicitors have any sympathy for them. youre a long time dead and it will be quiet enough then. its about time the motorsport fraternity stood up to these misery guts. the same thing is happening at Mallory park. enough is enough. noise is good

Aston Parish Church ring their bells every Sunday - practice is on Thursday evenings at 7.30.

Not casting aspersions, just suggesting that newspaper stories often don't reflect the facts. I have no doubt you have read an article or many articles possibly saying 'Muslims get church bells silenced', but is that really a true account of the situation? Similarly, with the Mildenhall situation, I feel there are things we haven't been told.

What you say is true. Having stayed over a few times at the stadium so I could start work on Sunday for the speedway, noise does go to that time on banger nights. The meetings don't end until 10.30 or so, then there's the packing up and loading of the cars and work on the track. I drew the conclusion that the noise problem wasn't with speedway at all.

The thing is though is that even if that's the case it still doesn't get away from the point that these people moved in next to the stadium. It was already there, and as such it is not for the locality to adapt to suit the needs of people moving in, but for people not to move there in the first place. That's why this ruling is bizarre, ridiculous and perverse.

Don't you see? That is precisely the type of attitude thst gets tracks shut down.
