Berwick V Rye House (pl) - Now 23/8

Recommended Posts

The Riders realise that the Sport is just about finished in the UK, so it's really just a good way of earning some spending money, they now treat the sport with the same attitude that the promoters treat them, picking and choosing Meetings, looking at a track and deciding it's just not worth the risks involved, the Promoters have brought it on themselves, it's a shame but life moves on, Speedway and the Cinema in the high street were the places to go once upon a time, but those times have long since gone, the Cinemas moved into the 21st century with multi point complexes etc, and have survived, Speedway has brought in Fast track, pmsl.

also i think half the problem is that people do not know there is speedway at a track not too far away. the sport needs to attract new fans from petrol head types who will enjoy the racing. i give out the rye house leaflets at many motorcycle meets including high beech and people always say 'i did'nt know it was still going' a bit of marketing is needed.

On Bandits' website:

Despite the defeat, everyone at Edinburgh was delighted to see Matty Wethers in the pits, lending moral support to his team-mates.

Still very stiff and sore, Matty admitted that any attempt to get back on board the bike this week would be impossible -- but has set his sights on rejoining the rest of the lads for the home meeting with Redcar on August 30th!

This is good news indeed, putting the Speedway Star's suggestion that he would be sidelined 'indefinitely' into perspective.

Now he needs to get his equipment replaced after those big crashes, with the Bandits Supporters Club holding a collection tonight for that very purpose.

Agree with you to some extent, but you're not going to progress riding once a week. That's where we have suffered this year. Apart from the odd guest ride, most of our side are riding exclusively for the Rockets. Edward, Luke, Steve & Bunny all have full time jobs/businesses outside of speedway. It's really just a hobby for them. At least Garrity is getting on the track more often, albeit against mostly inferior opposition.

Bunny was riding as a guest reserve for Glasgow at Workington last night. Scored 14 +2 from six rides. Why can't he put in that sort of performance for Rye House?

Impressing his future employers perhaps?

Points scored as a guest don't count towards averages

Maybe he will tonight, he has had some decent scores round Berwick, and a few duff ones in the past but at reserve could be a trump card.

Looking ahead to the meeting tomorrow. Bandits draft Arron Mogridge as No 8 -- nice link to the Berwick Hall of Fame, as Arron is of course son of Alan........

Home win tonight with Eddie Kennet and Jason Bunyan keeping us honest until Heat 15

If Kennett and Bunyan don't come up trumps it could end up a massacre.
