Berwick V Rye House (pl) - Now 23/8

Recommended Posts

Garrity was reluctant to sign for Rye House at the start of the season and that was before he had even turned a wheel for Coventry.

well I wonder why that is?!...if you listen/read to regular Rye fans on here they paint the same picture for a number of current and previous Rye riders, perhaps just maybe the problem isn't the riders but elsewhere within the club.

He seemed happy enough to sign for another season at Rye House, then his head was turned when this fast track nonsense was dreamt up by hard up Elite League promoters. Phoning the club on the morning of press & practice saying you ain't coming was the start of the rot. It only takes one or two bad apples around the pits to set the wheels in motion. This has been a shocking year for Rye House speedway. The last thing you need are riders who's minds are not on the job. Edited by Shadders

Garrity could be playing a dangerous game he may not get another go as a draft rider next season. If he doesn't its difficult to see any EL club signing him especially if he has to go into the main team, leaving PL as his only option, and he hasn't exactly pulled up any trees there has he.

Berwick release this morning:

Blame – or thank – the Gods of Weather.

So much Saturday-night rain has descended on Tweedmouth during 2014, Berwick’s high-flying speedway Bandits (sponsored by New Holland Agriculture) have been forced into the unusual step of staging two complete matches on one evening – this Saturday night! 30 races on the bill!

“We are on course to qualify for the end-of-term play-offs for the league title,” explained co-promoter Ryan Anderson yesterday. “However, to do so it is necessary to complete all our home matches by mid-September, and all the rained-out meetings now mean there are more outstanding matches than Saturdays to stage them on!

“As a result, we are doubling-up – beginning racing at half-past six this week, taking on Rye House Rockets, catch our breath for twenty minutes or so and pitch back into action against Newcastle Diamonds! Getting everything all done and dusted by half-past nine, as usual, we hope.

“All for one admission price of course, and we’ll be offering a bumper 36-page programme to what we are hoping will be a bumper attendance!”

Adult admission for the 30-race bonanza is £19, OAPs £12 and all accompanied children up to 16 are absolutely free.

Hospitality seating in the guest lounge, including admission, programme, buffet and refreshments is £35, but must be pre-booked with Commercial Manager Lani Rae on 07779-227535.

MATCH #1: BANDITS v RYE HOUSE ROCKETS:

In the first match, Berwick will face a guest-strengthened box of Rockets, as the Hertfordshire side have had an unfortunate glut of riders withdrawing from their squad.

Edward Kennett is returning of course, and will be a popular visitor - he turned out for Berwick for a period last season to cover for the injured Ricky Ashworth. He leads a team with former Bandit (and British U-21 Champion) Ritchie Hawkins replacing Luke Bowen, and tenacious Aussie Mason Campton in for Jason Garrity.

The Rockets will use the rider-replacement regulation to cover the races of Anders Mellgren, who has withdrawn from UK racing to rest an injured back. Regular Rockets Steve Boxall (himself riding through the pain from an injured ankle, experienced Jason Bunyan (who has appeared in three Grands Prix) and Olly Greenwood complete their side.

The Bandits list their regular squad.

Bandits: 1. Claus Vissing (captain), 2. David Bellego, 3. Steen Jensen, 4. Matty Wethers – Rider replacement, 5. Kevin Doolan, 6. Alexander Edberg, 7. Matej Kus

Rockets: 1. Edward Kennett, 2. Ritchie Hawkins, 3. Steve Boxall, 4. Mason Campton, 5. Anders Mellgren - Rider replacement, 6. Oliver Greenwood, 7. Jason Bunyan

Agree Shadders but you must ask the question when certain riders are labelled as not trying etc but whilst riding for other clubs they are labelled just the opposite.

I don't think there are any bad apples in the current line up.

The way the EL is going he'll be a heat leader there next year

Would have him in top five at Coventry esp if on a 3 average as has been suggested.

I think JG is a certainty for a full 1-5 place in the elite league next year. Cheap on a 3 point average and capable of beating riders above his calibre.

However.......his attitude stinks, not sure that I have ever seen him talk to a rye house team mate, there have been numerous rants about not being selected for heat 15 and I would argue his machinery is questionable at best.

There are definitely bad apples at rye this year and sadly that attitude is rubbing off on others with any luck the Jason's will be gone next year then hopefully Anders will return, Ty Nelson will get a visa add a improving national league youngster and I think the team will both unify and push for honours.....

Bit of a clever move here by the Berwick promotion to double up this fixture with the Newcastle match, so that all the Newcastle fans end up paying extra to compensate them for the Rye House fans who would never show up anyway if the match was on a different night...

A slightly wonky way of looking at things, I mean its hardly likely that if this was a one off date with Rye House Shielfield Park would be chocka block with fans of the Rockets.

Berwick are trying to get their fixtures in by the cut off date, I`m sure that a double header was last of the alternatives, given the losses they are likely to suffer.

It amazes me that people think he is pulling up trees in the EL even. Lets have a look at the riders who he has actually beaten in the EL this season other than his team mates and his fellow draft riders, most of those he should be beating anyway considering he was one of the highest graded.

Nicolai Klindt - PL 6/7 point man, on par with Garrity.

Richard Lawson (2 times) - PL 8 point man, where Garrity should be this season anyway.

Dakota North (2 times) - PL 6/7 pointer. North was a non finisher when Garrity beat him at Coventry 9/5.

Simon Gustafsson - EL 6 pointer.

Ty Proctor (2 times) - Riding pants this season, his PL average shows that. Garrity should be beating him.

Nico Covatti - PL 6/7 pointer.

Richie Worrall - Having a poor season, Garrity should be on par with him.

Michael Palm Toft - PL 5 pointer.

Scott Nicholls - Beat him guesting for Birmingham at Belle Vue.

Jacob Thorssell - EL 6 pointer.

Ricky Wells - PL 6/7 pointer.

Nick Morris - Morris was excluded when Garrity beat him on 18/8

That's 12 , a majority of whom Garrity is on par with. Not exactly setting the world alight. This shows he's picking up the majority of his points from NL riders.

Apologies from swerving off the actual thread topic.

Good Post ,I had that impression as well 8-9 of his points are against riders that would struggle to score in PL.
