Grand Central 2,654 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Surprised to see the front cover of today's Speedway Star. A disgraced rider who has been recently banned by the sport's worldwide governing body. For failing an alcohol test. Featured in a full action photo at a Grand Prix. Just like some riders get when they have enjoyed a sweet and admirable victory. On track. Interesting moral standards some people have. Edited March 5, 2015 by Grand Central

John Leslie 3,213 Posted March 5, 2015 Surprised to see the front cover of today's Speedway Star. I'm scared to open it in case they've got Muddlo as a topless centrefold.
Skidder1 7,637 Posted March 5, 2015 Didn't the SS do exactly the same with Dudek, even though he doesn't race in the UK? What are they supposed to do - hide the story away and hope people don't see it?? That would doubtless create another 300+ pages of 'unfair journalism' BS!!
Grand Central 2,654 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) I'm scared to open it in case they've got Muddlo as a topless centrefold..Well, Phil gives him a paragraph or two of mild admonishment. It is not a spanking that would cause pain. Not even redden the cheeks. But beware, Muddio is actually given the 'Guest Columnist ' page this week. I kid you not. This weeks edition is the Surbiton version of a journalistic V-sign to their critics. "Everyone hates us. And we don't care." Gavan 5,050 Posted March 5, 2015 Lets be honest the speedway star have been shocking in their journalism on the Darcy Ward issue. But I don't see an issue with him being on the front cover after all it is the big speedway news. Would be nice though if they took him to task inside and actually gauged the reaction of speedway fans rather than Darcy, Middlo, Pooles press office or Poole fans but I guess as usual the star will find it shocking he is banned
uk_martin 1,606 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm scared to open it in case they've got Muddlo as a topless centrefold. The thought of Neil Middlesnitch doing a "Vlad the Insaner" Putin pose doesn't bear thinking about.
Grand Central 2,654 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) But I don't see an issue with him being on the front cover after all it is the big speedway news. .Yes, perhaps it's just me. A bit over sensitive. But then I reacted badly when I saw the knife-wielding Jihadi John on the front page of the National newspapers last week. It may be the top story. But I'd just rather not offer them the glory. . lucifer sam 3,953 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Surprised to see the front cover of today's Speedway Star. A disgraced rider who has been recently banned by the sport's worldwide governing body. And surely the week's big news story, and therefore the automatic choice for front cover this week? It's not as if they are praising him: the headline is about his 10-month ban. If the Speedway Star hadn't have covered it sufficiently, you'd be criticising them for sweeping the news under the carpet. All the best Rob Edited March 5, 2015 by lucifer sam
SCB 0 Posted March 5, 2015 TBF, as someone who is often critical of the Star, Darcy IS this weeks news, thus I would expect him to be on the front page.
