Newcastle V Edinburgh Sunday 13th September 2017 2nd Leg Plknock-out Cup

Recommended Posts

Macgregor the ref making a balls up again, letting Aarnio have 8 races, 2 4 6 8 10 11 12 and 14...... Maybe they are trying new rules for 2016

Only had 7 rides. He was replaced in heat 4 for touching the tapes, so that doesn't count as a ride.....

"Frustrated" rides count in the maximum.

That's what I thought as a disqualification for tape touching when replaced, is also recorded as a ride for calculating averages,

If he only had 2 rides + the tapes ex, he would of been made to come out again as he would of only had 2 rides

edingbrugh jim would only make a mistake if it was in edinbrugh's favour

just how many important meetings involving edinbrugh does he get involved with

far too many

or they would have to run with only 1 rider in 1 heat

A tape touch counts toward the maximum rides but not the minimum.

Pretty poor meeting if i'm track. Ride 3 feet of the air fence you weren't going to get passed. But from a team perspective we are through to another final witch is great news.

Well onto other things! Mr McGregors decision to exclude Cookie on 2 minutes was just daft none of the riders were at the tapes the other three were further away from the tapes than craig playing around with their clutches, while Craig was still gardening. None of them were ready so why exclude just one rider? Supid IMO.

Special mention to Stevie Worrall different class tonight. :t:

riders who continue to do the gardining while others are sat back waiting to be called to tapes are classed as delaying the start if this happened cookie will have been asked by the start marshall to come to tapes

im a big believer that riders should be called to tapes in order either 1 to 4 0r outside first then the 2 inside gates but aslong as all meetings follow a set order theres no arguing when a rider delays the start

some riders always like to be last rebe bach for instance thinks it gives him advantage as the others start to get twichy when sat waiting for him to come under orders

This 8 rides and a tape touch occurred identically in a previous visit by the Monarchs (2014 ?) and we argued that was wrong then, so it was only history repeating itself with the same two sides.

We thought that he was excluded on the basis of making no attempt to start the heat, and actually stepped off the bike to foot scrape a groove, which is an offence. Jim got him on exceeding the two minutes, but either way, Cookie can't show his distain to officialdom and expect to get away with it. The fact he was eventually allowed back in was fact to it being a time penalty offence but the delaying the start IMO was the offence.

On the meeting in general.

It was a cracking meeting with Edinburgh playing a full part in what was a big win, just not a big enough. The meeting started well, but then alternating 4-2's stopped our comeback. Sedgmen continued his good form at Brough, but Grin didn't show full form and neither did Cookie. In Cookies case, even when he was outgated he continued to build up his speed and passed our riders with great ease, almost Tai like. Great to watch. Fabulous performance from our heat leaders, especially Steve who was highly impressive and it was probably the best we have seen him riding both the inside and then the outside. Him and Richie are a must for next year PLEASE. Special mention to the reserves who, as I predicted, would boss their reserves this time. Meeting was full of excitement with some strange results , Riss in heat 14 ?, ending a terrific race and passing in heat 15. Track was brilliant as it has been for the last 5 meetings. Usually because Jonny has saved the track once again, but this time through adding enough water to recreate another wet grippy track. I note the Blob has a dig at riding the track 3 foot from the fence. Obviously he forgets to mention the whitelining earlier on, especially by Ludde challenging Grin in two races, before most riders decided on the easiest but fastest line in the outside dirt.

Nice to see another bigger crowd, supplemented by Monarchs fans, who as usual turned up to support their team away. They are always welcome as they make for a great atmosphere. Best of luck to them in the Final.

So sad to be ending a season just as we are firing on all cylinders. We started with 3 rainoffs in the first 6 meetings, followed by Baltic conditions through May and June, with the team carrying injuries and under performing. Crowd was going down, and not looking good. Then Lewi's and Christians injuries, and things were looking even bleaker. Knowledgable guest choices, great upping of form by Simon and astute knowledgable signing of Aarnio, has since turned us into a playoff quality outfit, forget Plymouth, but not enough meetings to get back to where we wanted to be. Oh well, at least we have seen some cracking performances, and the crowd has returned in dribs and drabs. Perhaps those who walked were a little bit hasty, and have missed out meetings that they were critically craving to see. The TOON is second bottom of the PL, but still gets 50k+. Support your speedway.

The meeting never really took light for me, Newcastle really needed 5-1s and when Monarchs got the two 4-2s in heat 4 and 5 the aggregate result was never really in doubt. For once Monarchs were steady rather than spectacular summed up by Kevin's four 2nd places, he normally has a couple of good race's and 1 or 2 not so good but this time was just steady beating newcastles 2nd rider every time. Even with Cookie (missed every gate) and Sam (looking low on power) misfiring our top 4 easily took us through to the final with enough spare to rest cookie (or his bike) in heat 15. Never really needed to get out of 2nd gear.

Newcastle were very worthy of their win on the night with Stevie Worrall (must be guest of choice during the play offs) looking fantastic and Richie not far behind. The rest struggled to make any real impact on the monarchs top 4 and erik winning heat 14 in the slowest time of the night summed that up. It's a shame that stormy crashed out early in the 1st leg or this could have been a classic.

As for heat 5, the decision to exclude cookie was a joke. I understand he was off his bike when the 2 mins elapsed but he was about to clime back on and none of the other 3 were ready (there is no rule about being off your bike as they chose not to implement it). The couple of seconds it took the start marshall to tell cookie they were all on a warning was the difference and it was just the ref trying to be the star of the show. Given that there had been 2 restarts already and cookie was not at fault for either common sense should have prevailed, as it normally does in PL speedway.

I pay to watch 4 riders in a race not some donut up in the stand try to act the big man.

A typical Monarchs fan's response. And you might wonder why you are called Smugs. You do your club no favours. :nono::P

Just sounds like 2 differing views of the same match.

Yes, one trying to be fair and honest, and another apparently having a different agenda. Why.
