Premier League 2016 - Worry

Recommended Posts

Well it's this weekend that the rubber stamping takes place.

With the 3 point man at reserve this effectively strengthens the teams as most ended the year with no 7's with an higher average.

My worry is there will be about 11 rider departures from the league on the green sheets latest issue, so I believe there are not enough riders left for every one to reach 42ish.

The money clubs will cough big bucks for joe average to back up top 3, the lesser well off clubs will pick up the scraps, but will not reach 40 points.

The riders two years ago got told must have new silencer, they still have them as cannot sell them on as worth nothing. No concern about finances there.

How about every track should have a countdown clock, compulsory.

After every race clock resets to 5 mins after last rider has left the track from previous heat., 2 min buzzer still goes on after 3 mins, race starts at zero or rider excluded. If rider has 2 on the bounce clock runs down to zero then 2 mins. Interval 15 mins on the clock, but race countdown (5 mins) starts after the 10th min so no dragging out or home team manipulation. Interval after heat 10 or not at all.

A few ideas to speed up the meetings and make them more interesting.

Ban all riders from getting of bikes at start line to do gardening. Some clubs to make more effort to make the introduction of riders more exciting with a proper parade. Rye house springs to mind of being appalling at this. More presenters needed like Kevin Long at Ipswich. How about having pits on the centre green so everyone can see what's happening in the pits?. A live microphone in the pits so we all get to hear the chats between the ref and riders or team manager. Might need a bleep machine for that though lol. Also do away with the daft tactical rule we use now and go back to the old version of when a team 6 points down any rider can be used as a replacement so long as all riders have at least 3 rides and each rider can only be used once as a tactical.

Just a few thoughts. Sure none will be used but be nice to hear what other people's ideas are.

Most are fairly sensible apart from the pits on centre green, you wouldn't be able to see the other half of the track, a definate one for me is presentation, Kevin Long type person on centre green with a Glasgow style of getting the fans involved would be perfect, also stuff for the kids as well

Yes I see your point about the centre green. A good idea but totally impractable for most clubs.

At somewhere like kings Lynn or Coventry the viewing wouldn't be a problem from the stands if the pits were on the centre green.proberly not practical but I reckon this would be a great idea

Rye House appalling, how ironic!

Ideas should be visual and not out of the ether.

To be fair to Peterborough they do try with the presentation but always ignore the obvious and just chop and change far too much.

I'd also have the return of choice of gates when 6 points down - reverting to programme when not.

Countdown clock is good example of WYSI not WYG when Sky are not in town. The clock has appeared twice at Peterborough in the last couple of seasons when Sky is in town but disappears when they do. In this technological age it's surely not to difficult or expensive to do this? With pride of place near the start, a sponsored 2 min clock would surely be one of the better commercial opportunities?

last year , it was in the rules that the 2m clock may be used but was not compulsoru

It was used at Sheffield when I was there.....

The clock at Sheffield is on the back straight, and was installed initially for rugby league. Because it is not near the start gate and cannot be seen clearly by the riders near or at the tapes, approval to use it has to be obtained from the referee. Not all referees agree to use it.

What is that sound I hear? Ah yes, it's the noise made by the rearrangement of the deckchairs on the poop deck of the RMS Titanic...it doesn't matter where the pits are, or the two minute clock, if the product isn't good or well-promoted enough.

And your solution is?
