They'll also have the upkeep of the stadium - all year round whether they have any racing or not.

True, but they also then get to either put on events themselves, or rent it to other people to run their own events eg Stox, Speedway training days etc..

I am staggered that more clubs dont run chargeable practice days. They are 100% cash cow. There have been plenty of occasions where tracks have been hired and sub let in the past but it could be utilised so much more. Riders of all standards are crying out for track and happy(ish) to pay for it

Planning permission reasons? Maybe they're only allowed a certain number of noisy days per week or per year, and limited to certain times.

Who and what are they going to run on a speedway track in the winter and if stock car people want to run it is compatible to share the facilities with speedway Promotions.

You need to take into account the details of the lease on the stadium. Most will specify exactly what can be done and when and you won’t be allowed to run just whatever sport you want whenever it suits you,

I still don’t think Speedway Promoters pay for a12 month lease though.Who runs what in the winter months doesn’t come into it.!!!

To quote one who do….Redcar as it’s council owned and all others which are similarly owned,  and there are at least 5 others who do

That’s fair enough but at Redcar  the price they pay for a12 month lease will be based on the fact that they run a lot of Training days and Amateur Meetings. Most other tracks dont have any winter activity.I’m sure the lease price will reflect that fact.

At Poole we can't run anything before 3 pm on school days due to the stadium being next to a school and speedway needing to use their car park as 'overflow'.

The costs of running training schools or even stand-alone NDL fixtures would need to cover a substantial £four figure cost.

What ? So if they did nothing the rent would be less ??? Don’t be daft !

The council base the rent price on the facility, not what the tenant does with it .

Same goes for the moto x track, the m/cycle training school, the stunt school and the motorsports track .

As daft as you if you think Speedway Promotions pay Council full rent and don’t use the facility for 6 months. In Berwick’s case ( Council Owned)your not telling me that the Football pay 12 months full rent for 6 months use and Ditto the Speedway.I’m sure there is deal struck that suits them both.

Your just not taking this in are you? . Redcar pay 12 months rent ,on a 15 year lease, so that that piece of of the motorsports park is the speedway clubs,  no matter wether they run speedway racing, speedway practice sessions , amateur meetings, flat track, tiddlywinks tournaments or NOTHING at all as long as they pay the rent on time every time the council are happy ! That’s ‘ the deal that was struck that suits them both ‘ as that’s was what the council stipulated as it’s their facility .
If the speedway stated they only wanted to pay six months rent, there would be no speedway but the motorsports car park would be a lot bigger!, and yes, I do know this as I was involved in changing the lease when it was renewed.

Now not every club or council will have the same agreement but councils want rents paying and if some one only wants to pay for 6 months and some other sport offers to pay for 12 months, guess who will get the lease!

There are stadiums that want income the main element is there a track or has there been a track in the past. I'm sure there are Greyhound tracks that are suitable for Grasstrack bikes? This widens the scope of Stadium Racing?
