blueherb777 571 Posted September 19, 2016 I told you already that lakeside would find it hard to get a guest ...that's why it will be a easy victory over the two legs for Belle vue ..hope it's sunk in now To be honest the way Lakeside sneaked in the back door to get in the playoffs,it would be a farce if the Aces did not reach the Final.

No farce at all ..it does matter how you get there the rules are quite clear ...it's a level playing field now
blueherb777 571 Posted September 19, 2016 It doesn't matter how you've got in, your in, so you give it your best shot. Giving it your best is going into the meeting without your No 1 and using R/R? To me the Lakeside team without AJ is nothing more than a Premier League outfit. Just saying.

You have home advantage in the first leg which should count for a lot..
ray c 2,299 Posted September 19, 2016 r/r at home could be as good as a guest
TonyE 822 Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) r/r at home could be as good as a guest I think the point Jon Cook was trying to make was that R/R was likely to be better than the available guests. Edited September 20, 2016 by TonyE
waiheke1 4,295 Posted September 19, 2016 Harris is not good at BV, if you want someone who is good there Tungate got 12 points there last time and King is better than Harris there.Tbh having a rider who is no good at home can be a good thing. So long as he can ride close to his average you rely on team mates to win the home meetings. Then you have a rider who should score well away from home, but whose average doesn't get inflated by big home scores.Downside is, it's not great for the rider! If you take the No 1 rider out of any EL side they are more or less made up with PL riders.
SUPERACE 440 Posted September 19, 2016 On the Lakeside v Belle Vue thread - nothing new there then! It is the second leg next Monday that AJ is talking about. Yes my mistake i did mean Monday. He won't be fully fit.
mikebv 10,292 Posted September 20, 2016 I think the point Jon Cook was trying to make was that R/R was likely to bet better than the available guests. The downside of having a track where you need 'specialists' to ride it is a lack of riders who can when you are missing your best.. The upside is of course it helps to get you to the play offs when your team is full of those specialists.. Still, best of luck to the Hammers.. But obviously hope we win... The other problem is the rider gets lot of flak from fans, most of whom only see the hme performances, even though they are often match winners away. ( eg. Hans Andersen at Cov last year or Zagar and Nichols at BV this season. Incidentally aktuellspeedway has a home/away breakdown of EL averages and the Lakeside figures are quite dramatic. Home: 1. Kennett 2. Jonsson 5. Swiderski 7. Nilsson Away 6. Jonsson 25. Kennett (Scott Nicholls is 8th away and 34th at home - BV have five riders in the top 24 away averages)
TonyE 822 Posted September 20, 2016 My preference would be to stick with KK for the away leg - admirable on AJ's part to attempt an early comeback but he will be far from fully fit. Better he saves himself for the final (in the unlikely event his team are still in it).
Hornsey 29 Posted September 20, 2016 At least AJ gets a run out in the GP this weekend - That should clarify whether he is able to really race or not Up the Hammers!
marko 956 Posted September 20, 2016 After the GP whether he will be fit on the Monday i have no idea but i bet you he will be stiff as a board on Sunday and probably on pain killers too.
