King's Lynn V Rye House 19/07/17

Recommended Posts

I am going to side with Buster. I think he done right calling the meeting off. Been on my garden this morning and it's still very wet despite no rain here since 6 o clock yesterday morning.

But they don't ride on your garden! ;)

Its a well known fact the the Lynn track has a problem with drainaige due to the Wash and only a stones throw from the rider. it prevents the water getting away certainly when to tide is in. As for Giving they match points to Rye House are they afraid of facing a full team. (No Holder No Huckenbeck No Rose and Batchelor With a wrist injury)

That is strange as i used to live closer to the Wash on the north west side of Kings Lynn. What the track must be missing is a drainage system where the surplus water is pumped into the river ouse or nar, the same as the industrial estate must have, or they would keep getting flooded.

By calling this meeting off Buster has proven one thing, ( or maybe 3 things) that many already he know. In that he can do whatever he wants, to whomever he wants, whenever he wants. Its his track, his club (don't you Lynn fans start thinking otherwise) his business and now his Chairmanship that is running speedway in this Country.

After last weeks debacle and now this weeks 'rain off' Just shows even further what a great job he is doing for Kings Lynn speedway and indeed Speedway in general.

Instead of No brakes No gears No fear etc maybe the new slogan could be.... Speedway... Buster'sway or The Highway

Simply perfect - Bustersway or No Way at all. He has a stranglehold on the direction of speedway. For Good or No Good.

Pop back in 2022 never mind the 2028 centenary to see what happened. Did it burst back into life with 5,000 everywhere or fade limply away with a couple of hundred 70 and 80 year olds attending?

Entirely missing the point. Many people had booked time off of work to attend. Whether clay absorbs a lot of water or not, the forecast on match day was for sunshine with a breeze, ideal drying weather.

With a full strength Kings Lynn side available this would've been on. No question

You are obviously not a farmer then because any farmer in the Kings Lynn area would have told you the meeting would definitely not go ahead with the amount of water that dropped out of the sky Tuesday night/Wed morning. Like DWP said Buster would have been wrong whatever he did to some people.

Bit like a Manager when he loses the dressing room, in Footballing terms, then Clive, no way back is there.

Any promoter with an ounce of credibility would be embracing the few fans he hasn't pee'd off and be all over social media and on the Kings Lynn website with a full explanation and photographs of the "flooded" track. As far as I know there has been little or no communication with supporters/paying customers.

If he's not familiar with the workings of the internet he should employ someone who is. That would help to diffuse the anger and clarify the situation. What you have now is unacceptable in 2017.

Teams have been calling matches off if they feel under strength for years. I can only remember Belle Vue and Mildenhall being pulled up though the punishments were not the same.

As with many things in this sport it's the fluid nature that regulations tend to be applied that rubs people up the wrong way. It all feels a bit made up as they go along with the old pals act coming into play.

Get rid of the crooks and we might be able to start moving forward. If we can coaxe some of the good guys back, all the better.

yes agree with you totally what you have said in this post but what you said in the post that I replied to I thought that you was totally wrong. I was standing in my conservatory at 4.00 am watching and listening to the terrential rain that was falling thinking that there was no way that that nights meeting was going ahead. Being a farmer you know how the ground reacts to x amounts of rain falling on it and it was just my opinion that in Wednesday's meeting Buster got his decision spot on.

What ever he does - Buster is wrong. He called meeting off early as I assume he felt that due to the VERY heavy rain Tuesday night that he couldn't prepare an acceptable track. The Lynn track is clay based and clay absorbs a lot of water.

People up in arms that it was called off.

Next scenario- meeting was on. Riders walked track and say we don't want to race on this. Then same people up in arms saying why wasn't it cancelled early.

3rd scenario - after 5 heats riders complain about track. Meeting cancelled. Again same people moaning why did the meeting start.

Poor guy can't win.

I've heard it so many times - why a meeting is not called off early before riders and fans travel. Then when someone does make this decision - they are wrong !

No doubt there are conspiracy theories that it was a fix as Lynn didn't have a full team. I don't know and I don't care. I was going to go to the meeting to show support for Buster and King's Lynn speedway. But do you know what, I didn't cry and throw my toys out the pram. I just did something else that evening. It will be on another day and I can go then.

I'm all for early call offs rather than standing around for hours watching tractors but this week was special circumstances following the debacle last Thursday, so the very least that Buster could have done is highlighted below.

Given all the sensitivity KL should have asked a local referee to visit the track and confirm near the start time that the track was unfit, in football ONLY the referee calls off the match.

Anybody with an once of sense can smell what was happening last night, in fact it now explains why Huckenbeck was not on a flight to England, because the match was never going ahead.

It's not far off that now

Huckenbeck was probably at a meeting in Germany because Wednesdays meeting was never in the fixture list at the start of the season. otherwise I'm sure he would have been in the line up.

As far as I know nobody has managed to find any evidence of any speedway in Germany this week.

The last one I can find is the German under 21 championship last Sunday (won by Daniel Spiller)

We have all done enough moaning this week about the proposed team and the call off. Now it's time to move on and concentrate on the rest of the season.
